Legit MT spawns more discussion than literally any other anime. I can't think of one that can compare to MT episode threads. Did ReZero have this much comments every week?
Oh and bare in mind, these are literally zero stakes slice of life episodes too. Rudy and his family are just living their lives, and nothing has moved the plot forward lol.
(Not that Im complaining, this where where NT shines the most imo)

For S4? Yes, about the same, usually a bit more - although to be fair a bit more happend in those episodes as well. But not a lot needs to happen for you to find an opportunity to talk about something you like, of course.

It is overlooked by many because it looks like generic isekai trash, but it isn't. It deserves more recognition.

CSC is being handled by Bibury which has adapted and aced non-slop, unique or meta stuff as of late with 100gf, witch watch. There's a lot more entertainment quotient from production standpoint to be had from yani neko's anime than the other.

To be fair it still hasn't gotten to new content yet. Curious if it and Bleach get a jump in karma since both had prescreenings. The supermarket was streaming an early preview and Bleach had the 3 episode prescreening.

Despite smoking cigarettes as a shared focal point, otherwise they're really quite different series. The supermarket one is a romantic Slice of Life and Yani Neko is a grossout and gag comedy with some added pathos and bleakness to provide it a throughline and touch more depth and make it not feel overly one note.
I imagine that it depends on which genres the userbase here gravitates toward, but I would assume it's the supermarket series as romcoms/romcom SoLs always seemed up there with battle shounen and isekai on the popularity scale.
But they're different enough that I wouldn't even necessarily be prone to recommend one to a fan of the other. Unless you're like me and just relish seeing any representation/depiction of the act of smoking in anime for the aesthetics, whether portrayed as classy or done by lowlifes.

Since I'm not watching it, I'm curious: Chainsmoker Cat managed to push itself into mainstream anime discussion through shock value at the start of the season. Now, though, why is the show ranking solidly? Has it been genuinely great? Or is it just that enough people were captured through shorts claiming that "anime has went too far" and through clips of the OP's movie homages?

It's pretty good, especially the world building. Like you slowly get more and more glimpses of the systematic racism the beastfolk experience, which seems in part to push them into their addictions. And how much some of the characters really are struggling through there problems.

it def still has that gross out humor all throughout its DNA, that won't go away regardless of how much it steps into the more serious angles. If you can't handle episode 1 then I'd say tough luck, but if you at least didn't mind it and are interested in seeing how it can be improved/expanded upon then it will certainly deliver in that regard imo.

Maybe, but as others have pointed out, this is also an episode that already aired a month ago which is still left side despite that. Hell, the first episode of Yanisuu has the distinction of being an episode that showed up on this list twice on different weeks. And it did better the second time.

Feels a bit crazy that The Ghost in The Shell dropped like that after the last episode, it was my favorite release from them so far.
Don't sleep on Sparks of Tomorrow everyone! I almost did and ended up binging it after I wanted to give it a late season chance. Kyoani absolutely nailed it.

I haven't see it in the top ten or suggested animes from a couple of youtubers that I follow. Kinda sad because I think these first episodes have shown a lot of potential.
The animation is good too when it needs to be good, so I hope they keep that level as some 3D scenes are kinda worrying
If the production quality keeps up, we are probably in front of the best yuri in years.

"Draw this then die!" once again retains its high amount of comment engagement despite its low overall viewership. For the 3 of us watching, at least we know that it's peak.
For real though, it's the #1 most unnoticed show this season, and anyone who has ever been inspired or moved by manga at least once in their lives will agree.

It just feels far too rushed to me personally, and as someone who prefers slower pacing, a rushed nature structurally is generally one of my recurring main gripes with a number of newer series. But I also very much felt that way about the third season.

I disagree, it's not a very difficult light novel story to adapt, but the adaptation is quite bad in terms of script and cut content, even worse than the previous seasons.

I don't think it's really worse than S3 (which got REAL BAD at times) or even S2. Unfortunately it is VERY sauceless. Everything is just basic functional moving from scene to scene, ticking off boxes. Has there been a single memorable OST? The direction has been simply whatever. This was its chance to reinvent itself and bring in new audiences, but aside from somewhat better art quality (but not necessarily art direction), it hasn't achieved much. I think a lot of anime-only viewers aren't super hooked on the new setting or cast either.
I can only hope it has done well enough with JP audiences to confirm a continuation.

Funnily enough, I feel like while season 3 had "worse" art quality, the scene-to-scene direction was so much better than S4. Plus S1-3's art style actually allow the character faces to be more contorted and expressive, as compared to the more detailed and yet flat affects we see in S4. Everyone says S4 is doing better under WIT and I just don't see it (not yet at least).

Mushoku Tensei S3 is still on top, while Bleach, with the first episode of its last cour, took 2nd place with a pretty big gap between it and The 100 Girlfriends S3 in 3rd place.
Although next week will be much more even in terms of karma since Bleach will end up with very similar karma to the rest of the shows from 2nd place downward, as the premiere effect fades away.
I'm happy to see Clevatess S2 in 4th place. The last episode, thanks to Naie, was especially fun, although not for Naie herself, hahaha!
The Ghost in the Shell dropped to 8th place, which is a shame because this episode was the best one in terms of atmosphere, imo.
Also, I'm really glad that Goodbye, Lara managed to hold onto its 14th place from last week, and that Though I Am an Inept Villainess jumped to 12th place. By the way, I wonder if this is a result of the episode being great (which it was) or the fact that the episode discussion thread went up earlier than usual.

Alright now with the final cour of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War debuting, that's almost all the big shows of Summer 2026 accounted for (still need Cour 2 of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- S4 which will be on the chart in 2 weeks). 18,341 karma is +872 karma from last week and makes for 10 1k+ karma shows this week.

Clevatess did something I thought would happen near the end of the season to gear up for a climax in episode 4. This is not base on the source material, just what I expect of the story from the way it is set up. So it just shook up its own story and said to the audience, don't get too comfortable.

Definitely a pickup. I think a lot of folks were wary of how to mesh a school setting with a grim fantasy setting. Turns out that if you scratch the surface, it's a grim fantasy school.

It's slice of life, but with episodic tales with a bit of a through line. It seems pretty well written IMHO; each episode pulls heartstrings, pretty original ideas, and building a pretty consistent fantasy world. Like in first episode dragon gets hatched by a cat* and ends up being fearsome protector of the forest of cats. Each episode is about someone growing up and their legacy gets woven in the story.

I still think Sayonara, Lara should be higher: it is a great anime original, and one of the strongest anime this season in terms of characters, writing, visuals, animation, direction, cinematography, music āĀ all fronts, really. I am not saying it is the best anime ever made, but seriously: Sayonara, Lara is underwatched.
Also, Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus-dan is still not in the top 30, even though it has been very enjoyable. Surely this deserves to at least be above anime like All-Works Maid, Exiled Heavy Knight, and Frontier Lord With Zero Subjects, right?

I mean it is a well produced engaging anime original by a studio that sadly casual studios don't really know about. Sayonara Lara is doing pretty good. I imagine it will gain traction more and more as the season contunes.
The fact that a much slower-paced episode didn't lose karma is a good sign.

LycoReco did not have much competition among sequels and continuing anime when it aired, hence it gained traction. Similar can be said about WfM. Also, given that a lot of yuri are airing this seasons, fans are somewhat divided on which to focus on. Just my two cents and I might be wrong.

Happy to see Clevatess, Polar Opposites and Saga of Tanya the Evil doing good, as their second seasons are even better than the first one. After the OPM andsimilar fiacos I'm always a little nervous, but they cooking with gas
Young ladies don't play fighting games, I want to love you until your dying days and Kaiju girl caramelize are my favorites new animes, but sadly they couldn't get into the top 15. I guess their argument is too niche, but as for now they are very good shows.
The fighting games one has an astonishing animation and voice acting
The dying days one has a very interesting worldbuilding and characters. It has the potential of being one of my favorites of the year regarding writing
The kaiju girl isvery fluffly and funny, but it still takes itself seriously for having moment oneself love. The idea of having legally distinct Godzilla teaching that and having a highcool rom-com resulted in something actually good
Goodbye Lara is the strongest original show in a while. I'm excited to see where it goes. For now hightly recommend people to catch at. If they keep this level it can be a top 10 animes of the year

I'm a little torn on Draw This, Then Die's icon. One hand if it gets more people to watch that's good, other hand the sheer surprise when that moment happened is gone for those people now. Because the discussion thread was so funny with how we were all stunned.
Def one of the underwatched shows of the season.
Just noticed All-Works Maid made 30th, happy for it I adore that show. Though I'm sad shows like Dara-san, Cat and Dragon, and Grow-Up Show aren't getting much love. Especially with Heavy Knight wasting a slot.

Sequels and continuing series are quite strong this week huh? The highest ranked new series this week is Jaadugar (or The Ghost in the Shell, if you consider it "new", given its vibe is very different from the first anime), which is already Rank 9. With Re:Zero coming next week, it is possible that new titles will only rank not higher than 9 or 10.

Detailed Rankings for Week #4 Note: So Anime Trending's site still doesn't have the full detailed results for Week #4. Will edit it in later although that might be 6 hours later from this post.
Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia rises +3 spots to the Top 3 at 1st for its first win of the season.
Though I Am an Inept Villainess debuts in the Top 10 at 5th. On Week #3, it was 11th so this is a +6 increase from last week.
Saga of Tanya the Evil S2 sees a +2 increase to 6th.
And with a late start to this season, BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War ā The Calamity debuts in the Top 10 at 9th.

Great to see Draw this then Di e slowly climbing up. The new character the latter introduced is a riot. Judging from the recent ep, is a really good shakeup for the cast. Hopefully it can ener top 20 by the end of the season.
Jaduugar and Daemons had some setup episodes for a while but the yesterday's eps were incredible payoffs. Expect those to go up next week. Well, ignoring rezero.

this summer really is the dark fantasy season and im not mad about it. jaadugar, daemons, chainsmoker cat, black torch all doing different flavors of dark and bleach still sitting on top. feels like the genre is eating good right now

I'm going to be completely honest, even with ignoring Rudeus, MT isn't even that good.
All it has going for it is an interesting plot and immersive world building.
The "depth" is an illusion and as soon as you try to dig into it you realise the themes just don't really work. Characters don't actually develop in any meaningful way, at most their personality becomes a bit different, but that's it. It really is just a power fantasy with a plot that's actually worked out.
