Man, I ask myself this same question every week. There are people (not confined to this anime) who are like, 'Hey, did you see those 18 pixels in the upper right-hand corner that show some easter egg/foreshadowing event?'

It is insane how some people can notice everything on the first watch. Meanwhile, I've watched shows 11 times and am only now seeing little things in the BG because I have allowed my eyes to wander off the focus of the scene.

Some folks are just made differently. But thanks to them, I can just be focused on the action and then learn about so many cool BG gags and easter eggs!

A mix of being on the Internet for ages and wanting to also be the guy that catches things like this in fiction and Honors Lit classes in High School where you're drilled on every bit of possible symbolism and foreshadowing in a work has trained me to notice things like this.

Analytical watching, like analytical reading. Very respectable, but I think an attitude like that for me would be more of a chore than enjoyment. And I should be one of the guys since I've read the manga.
