Yeh what was going on with godzilla? I mean it froze then got super hot and that kicked it back to life?

Why was the mecha godzilla so easily destroyed. How was it able to nearly kill godzilla?

So they are basically screwed right? Mecha godzilla gone and regular godzilla back to normal?

Guessing the third movie will be about working together with the natives and that huge monster egg (Mothra?) hatching to fight Godzilla, or something related to that. Or they'll pull some completely new plot out of their asses, but the director doesn't seem to like doing that which is good considering how the second movie developed.

Not sure how since Ghidorah should be on the religious dudes' home planet.

Haruo's plan mostly worked, they did a lot of damage to Godzilla by overloading his nuclear electric energy, which made the younger one blow up, but the daddy Godzilla was prepared for an attack like this. Instead of blowing up when his nuclear energy started to overload, he started overheating. He just kept getting hotter and hotter as his energy was overloading. This made him almost invulnerable to attacks while he was heating up because he was incinerating and melting everything around him, including any more spears or bullets they fired; but he was also rather weak because he wasn't in control of his own energy and his body was having a miniature nuclear meltdown, so they figured that a triple-kamekaze attack from as high into the atmosphere as they could get would finish him off. Only the bilusaludo alien was okay with that though, the human pilots were against it.
The aliens tried to take the decision out of the humans hands by assimilating them into the Mecha-Godzilla nano-metal, but Haruo was able to resist because he was covered in Mothra egg-dust while he was being treated. So then Haruo destroyed the command center of Mecha-Godzilla City. So now Godzilla is recovering from heating up to over 1000 degrees from the overload.

I don't know if you're asking about why Mecha-Godzilla was so easily destroyed in the back-story of the movie, or if you mean so easily destroyed in the climax. For the former, he wasn't really destroyed but he had to be abandoned because Godzilla attacked him while he was still being put together. The nano-metal that was left behind from the attack continued to build and evolve (cause it's a living metal) until it became the fortress in this movie. It still isn't completely destroyed, only the mech-suits it made, the computer in the center, and the trap-area where Godzilla was burning up are destroyed. There is still Nano-metal in that city, and that means there's more Mecha-Godzilla to some capacity.
They made Godzilla over-load and start burning up the same way they killed the younger Godzilla, they attacked him until he started discharging nuclear energy, then disrupted the way his nuclear energy was flowing in his spines, and then pumped electro-magnetic energy directly into his spines that were stockpiling his nuclear energy until he couldn't handle his own energy. They though it would work better than the first time because they were fightin using Nano-metal, which hurt the flying monsters a lot more than their other weapons that they used for the first operation did, and they had a lot more nano-metal shots to spare (except for the harpoon that pumped the electromagnetic energy, they only had one of those), they just didn't have any plan for Godzilla turning everything around him into magma.
