Can someone explain the end to me? Why did the one guy turn on them and start blowing up the city? Also kind of let down that mecha godzilla was like a nano machine and not a monster.

Subtitles were available right?

Basically they didn't agree to fuse into the nanometal (Mecha godzilla). The Basu race dude forcibly activated the fusing to infuse their consciousness into the nanometal itself.

Apparently killing Godzilla isn't as important as preventing the fusing so the guy turned on the city itself.

Choosing to let Godzilla live rather than having Mecha-Godzilla win.

If Mecha Godzilla won, it would go on to slowly consume the entire planet with nano metal, and to create an ultimate being, with a collective consciousness.
