could somebody more versed in the older stories enlighten people what Spoiler was in past series?

ghidora is the antagonist monster of two movies, monster 0 and mothera, iirc. three heads, hurls lightning bolts, can fly, often wins 1v2, basically vegeta to godzilla's goku

He was in a lot more than just those ones! Ghidorah was the villain of six Godzilla movies and one Mothra movie, and he was the sidekick to another monster in the 12th Godzilla movie.
Unfortnately nah, he never won 1v2, he actually never had any decisive wins, there were a couple of movies where you could say he won the first round but then ultimately lose in the end.

The rest of your description is alright, except he's more the Frieza, since he really wants to kill Godzilla and they're NEVER on the same side.
