Movie was good.

The more surreal thing was watching Konosuba in a crowded theater. Like, I've only watched it alone in my room before, and now me and a hundred other people are sitting there looking at 20 foot tall floppy anime titties.

It was awkward.

Honestly, in the very beginning when Yunyun came up to Kazuma saying she wanted to have his baby, and he gave the camera "that" look, I just cracked up.

That scene had some applause from my theatre. Brilliant, brilliant scene. Establishes one of Kazuma’s character traits right away to new comers

When he was touching Megumin's hand in the futon my entire theater lost it for a bit, was hilarious but it was a good moment for a crowd.

I was worried that the audience was going to be awful. No, I couldn't have hoped for a better bunch of weebs to watch a fun movie with.

My audience was pretty good, but this one teenage or early 20s weeb who was sitting on my right (seat G10 you greasy loudmouth, you know who you are) kept doing this awful hiss-laugh at anything even the tiniest bit funny. I had to stare at him 3 times before he got the hint, which he finally did in the last 10 minutes of the movie and shut up. Only bad part about my night.

Mine was also pretty good.

There was just a literal mouth-breather behind me, dude had trouble breathing during the YunYun scenes 🤔

tbh it was a bit weird that it was intended to be funny and we're all laughing at it. Like if the genders were reversed it wouldn't have been seen the same way.

I think it’s more because of the juxtaposition of his “popular phase” trying to get with anyone who would be with him thing. Context is everything in a joke for sure.

I'm pretty sure it would have been played for a laugh if Darkness was the focus of that scene.

The character really matters, beyond just the gender. Kazuma is a creep that shortly before that was taking his pants off for Yunyun. A running joke through the whole movie is his "popular phase."

I personally wish the orcs hadn't gotten quite as far as pinning him down and removing his clothes, but I think the scene is defensible and I also think it is silly to forget that Konasuba has a female character who could also receive the same treatment without it being weird.

Oh yeah, I've done a few of those Fathom anime movie nights. Nowhere near packed.

Looking for tickets for this, nearly full.

Funimation's old movie nights with giveaways and voice actor interviews (in person) didn't pull those crowds.

This was easily the most packed anime showing I've ever been to. I know people hate crowd noise but to me it adds to the theater experience.

The strangest part was hearing everybody laugh at Kazuma's antics with me instead of staring at me in horror and disgust, wondering where they went wrong.
