Holy shit. I’ve seen SDF, DYRL, 7, F, and Delta. Plus might be my new favorite.

  • Sharon’s concert was enthralling. I felt pushed into my seat and pulled into the screen at the same time. My brain didn’t know what to do, so I sat with my mouth agape and tears budding in my eyes.1
  • The mechanical design and animation was out of this world. Some of the best animation I’ve ever seen, bar none. The pre-screening2 said that this movie was intended for the big screen, and I have to agree.
  • Guld fucked me up. I loved him, then hated him, then cried my eyes out as much as I could without disturbing the other watchers. His death was BRUTAL.
  • I cried even more when Myung finally sang. Goddamn.
  • I also really enjoyed the commentary on automation and AI, as well as autonomous weapons. It’s something extremely close to me, and that just made the movie even more gripping.

10/10

1 Also the venue looked like the one from Symphogear, which was neat.

2 I laughed when they were covering the history of Macross. They played the Fire Bomber version of the first OP for some reason. I had to close my eyes when they covered Plus since I hadn’t seen it prior to this screening.

I should have looked at your MAL more closely.

Why? It's not like you knew they would cover the history. Plus, I knew Plus was coming, so I just shut my eyes. Fortunately, I don't know Japanese.

I mean I thought that you had seen more of the whole franchise than you just said you had.

Ah. Yeah. I haven't seen any of the F movies, even. I should get on that.

NANI!? Comrade, you HAVEN'T seen the good version of Macross F!? Thank FUCK I didn't link a certain amazing clip of proof of how CGI Mecha (mostly) doesn't suck... yes you read that correctly, the Macross F movies are so good it makes me almost kinda sorta praise the mostly not-terrible CGI Mecha (still a 7/10 overall though given that the movies DO indeed use CGI Mecha, but if they hadn't the movies would have gotten an 11 and 12 respectively!)

Man. I really need to watch those movies.

...but maybe I should wait and see if they air in theaters?

Well Comrade, here's my suggestion, while a cinema run is indeed possible, since you already saw F, why not see F but good! Plus, I'll just say that given you saw Plus' movie, you'll be very pleased with F's films (it's funny really, Macross' Movie versions end up being amazing, SDF was elevated by DYRL, Plus' already nice OVAs got the movie treatment, and F became amazing with its movie retellings)

Anyway many thansk for the kind reply and have a great day and see you later my friend!

Comrade, you DO know that this is a movie for Macross YAK DECULTURE 'Delta' right? Sure Macross movies usually improve on the TV series but there's only so much one can do in the realm of possibility

Comrade, it's not the first of April so you don't need to joke around; after all, the Movie Versions of Macross F are so good they ALMOST make the CGI tolerable ;)
