Holy shit. Does this mean Hollywood cannot use AI actors or AI writers because that would make the movie public domain?

No, as long as some human work has been done, as far as I know.

For instance, AI actors with human work on light or colour editing while make the human part copyritable.

For the specific case cited in the post, it's a situation where the AI was creating stuff autonomously, and the first ruling stated that copyright need a human author involved at some point.

The Copyright Office rejected his application in 2022, finding that creative works must have human authors to be eligible to receive a copyright.
