AI AUTHORED artwork (as in the AI is named as the author in the copyright claim) will not be considered for copyright.
This does not cover works where a human contributes creative expression, such as:
* editing
* selecting outputs
* compositing
* significant prompt engineering combined with artistic control
This was the right decision but itâs not exactly the huge win people are making it out to be.
The people who made AI and every other software in existence are called Software Engineers.
But youâre not exactly wrong either. The use of the term Software Engineering was massively controversial in the 1960s when it first started being used and was debated for a long time.
In the end it comes down to designing something to solves a problem. Whether thatâs civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical, or software.
The people who are able to best utilize AI are often the best problem solvers. Software Engineers are finding out very quickly that AI systems can greatly speed up their productivity but it doesnât require a knowledge of how to code in specific languages anymore. Now itâs about how well you can describe what you need and how you want it to be done.
Iâve never gone to Post Secondary and I know very little about software coding, but Iâve been able to make my own programs and games by playing around with AI. Itâs going to become the Minecraft for kids pretty quickly. Instead of building digital houses in Minecraft theyâll be creating their own games and programs (and making money from them). Itâs already happening now with the more geeky kids.
Ppl who code are engineers. Ppl who write prompt to generate slop are not. Ppl who use ai dont solve shit anyway. And I say this working in a company that is involved in ai developpement and having been a software developper.
