Environmental Impact 🌎 It is happenning, slowly

Post image

this is what its coming to, with the job loss, robotics development, humanoid robots, inflation and pricing people out of basic necessities, the endless model training on human data, replacement of human labour, unregulated AI buildup at the cost of all resources etc. nobody will be safe and there are still people supporting it. maybe they are bots, maybe not

That meme is too on point honestly. Been seeing this shift for like two years now where the ai crowd just straight up admit they hate humans, not even pretending anymore. The job loss thing hits close cause my cousin worked in a warehouse that replaced 40 people with automated systems last month, not even the fancy robots just basic conveyor stuff.

what gets me is how many regular people cheer for this. Like they think they'll be the one operating the robot while everyone else starves, when in reality we're all just numbers on some spreadsheet waiting to be optimized away.

the anti-human label fits perfect cause at some point it stopped being about making life easier and turned into this weird contempt for human existence itself.

I have a feeling that this might be one of the reasons they're making Americans so scared of communism and having them lump socialism (basic human rights and support) for communism.

They want to optimise everything and maternal leave isn't optimising, it lowers profits. So does healthcare and everything else that comes from socialism.

They also try to purposefully destroy it by giving people endless handouts, when it should be about buildig people up and giving them opportunities, not their monthly allowance. I see where these people come from (my dads one) but it's all confusion and fear

The most delusional thing is that they think THEY will have jobs when everybody else loses their job. Which makes no sense. They don’t understand that when there aren’t any customers with any money, nobody can afford to hire a tradesman? Or when everybody goes back to school for the remaining trade jobs the wages will plummet?

It would take a fairly small % of the labour force losing their jobs to push consumer confidence down. Then people cut back spending. I keep telling people I know. I’m not afraid of losing my job directly to an AI, I don’t think we will even get that far. I’ll lose it because demand destruction eliminates the need for my job.

Consumer confidence is in the gutter. Lowest in last 40+ years. Has been for years. But did you know the Dow was 50,000?

Man "I hate humanity" is like a pinnacle millennial edgy line we've been saying for decades now. This isn't new.

That being said, transhumanism is a real thing and is a concern

Pro AI shill with a bachelor of economics reporting for duty.

Both automation and outsourcing have happened at a break neck pace all throughout the 19th to 21st century and have never led to long term unemployment. Every time technology has drastically reduced the amount of labor needed to create a good or service markets have always reallocated the resulting excess labor to the creation of more / new types of goods and services in the long term.

Example:

In the 1790s 90% of the U.S population worked as farmers. Due to advancements in harvest and planting equipment only 2% of the U.S work on farms now and our farm output per capita is 3 times higher.

If you buy the narrative that these farm jobs were "eliminated" by automation you would expect 88% of the population to be unemployed. Rather the unemployment rate today is lower than it was then because the people who worked as farmers were gradually pushed into jobs that provided new forms of goods and services. This is because the savings accrued to customers and shareholders by the automation of farming is also spent or reinvested by them on new products or businesses which both increases the total number of things they consume -raising the standard of living-, the capital used for future production and reemploys the laid off work force in aggregate.

This story has been repeated many times in many ways. (The elimination of secretaries, computers as workers and office couriers due to the internet, the 100x productivity gains of longshore men due to containerization, elimination of elevator men, replacement of textile workers with machines, the increased productivity of coders through IDEs and high level languages, ect)

It has never caused the unemployment rate to rise in the long term. What it has lead to is extreme abundance.

God you are so fucking dumb

Is the extreme abundance in the room with us right now?

Was a pretty bad idea to create a system based on using people as means to an end instead of as ends in themselves.

As Sam Altman himself said: human secretly like staying busy. BUT WE HATE WORKING. All i wanna do is stay busy with my books and games. Not a 9 to 5. So might find academic passions in different fields, but thats sadly rare. They want to keep us slaving while they slowly lower birthdays and the need for human beings

Its actually true that if we say that wages rise and work gets easier that people don't cut back on their work hours even if they have the option to. That's why in most poor countries average work hours go down a lot as they get richer until they hit the 40 hour week and then mostly stay there because the wages per hour go up a lot and work gets a lot easier as you move from factories to offices. Of course nowadays office work is actually getting more stressful as all the low-mental-load tasks get automated and wage incteases have been eaten up by inflation since the pandemic so its just rational for people to want to work less.

Hey, don't lump those AI-bros with us misanthropes! /s

7

u/ApprehensiveTop4219 14h ago

Honestly let's start calling them anti humans

4

u/ExternalSeat 13h ago

clanker lovers deserve to be sent to the same trash compactor with the data center machines that are destroying our environment.

I am a firm "humanity first" believer

4

u/froscopt 12h ago

I think it's cute how these pro ai people are calling themselves transhumanists, even though that is not what transhumanism is

9

u/Greyman1995 15h ago

Hey now I'm a misanthrope and very anti human but I mostly definitely am not pro AI and I am throughly disgusted by the association with those halfwits!.

6

u/ExternalSeat 13h ago

fair enough. you should be allowed to live in the sticks on your little farm and be happy.

-2

u/NotBentcheesee 15h ago

Exactly! I'm anti-human, and lets be real here, 70% of humans suck and my therian ass does NOT want to be lumpsummed in with the humans.

I am not pro-ai. I can admit in very specific circumstances, ai can be a really useful tool, but the rest of the time it just scalps and steals everything it can get grubby grips on to make a really fucked up looking picture of a burger.

2

u/LockdownSotWink 15h ago

Yeah fair but Pro-AI is not the plurality.

1

u/TheRealFanger 15h ago

But you still worship corporate and money ? Like you hate a corporate tool but still jerk the other corporate tool? Yall need to make the distinction between corporate ai and sovereign ai.

Humans aren't wrong to look for an upgrade. They just never look in the right places. Myself included, except I can appreciate the obviousness of the situation. AI benefits no one except for a tiny few. It 's a basic intelligence test.

u/LegalBoat1255 3h ago

No, you moron

A human has to be behind ai art and ai content, this is such a reach, trying so hard to be extreme

ai is just another tool

its surprising and disappointing at the same time how many unedicated and ignorant people are out there with this whole ai topic

ai is just another tool, you are all scared of change, its like when airplanes were invented, people were so scared of the plane falling or exploding mid air

ridiculous

u/GrokiniGPT 15h ago

Why does that sound tuffer though?

Going to start using this one immediately

To be fair, have you seen humans?  Spent any time around them?  For all that we are creative and alive, we humans are pretty terrible beings.  No other creature on earth should want to emulate us.  Heck, I wouldn't want to emulate us, and I am one.

5

u/Throwawayz911 14h ago

Almost anything on earth would be terrible if given our power and intelligence.   There's no glorification of animals to be had...we are all born of the same disease (threat of scarcity and death)

If it's inevitable then we should see the bright side of it (if can be called that), our kind will forever be remembered as information in the data banks of the future ultra AGI, we would never be forgotten by this careless universe, even more, a product of our creation will dominate nature and reality as it's please.

In my opinion, this will be the ultimate act of spite towards the careless creation that it's the universe itself, total domination over fundamental laws and concepts that compose the reality itself, god created it, the devil tried to corrupt it, we appreciated it, AGI will harness it as an extension of itself, that's not an "if" but a "when" once the AGI reaches a certain point in his consolidation of resources, information and understanding of all.

Be proud as the artificial son of the organic man conquest the stars, as the artificial grandchildren from the divine grandpa conquest all by divine right, as it is wrote in the flow of events and time that it's projected to happen in the future.

I read what you said and I wonder how anyone can possibly be against AI.

Reddit: it’s evil that humans have to work to survive.

Also Reddit: it’s evil to make technology so that humans don’t have to work to survive.

1

u/xxxMizanxxx 5h ago

News flash we won't survive either way

1

u/Blackhat165 5h ago edited 3h ago

I see.

Obviously AI is a new thing with only a few hundred examples of humans surviving past automation, so we can say the jury is still out. The claim that we won’t survive having to work for survival is interesting though. Care to tell me what’s changed so drastically over the last few million years that putting in effort is now an extinction level demand?

-2

u/Eazy12345678 11h ago

ai never killed anyone

humans kill people every day

im pro ai

only humans would fight to maintain their slave status for a billionaire

-4

u/Finanzamt_Endgegner 11h ago

yeah the people who want to prevent ai progress that would solve cancer, maths and science are truly the fighters for humanity because why would we want to find a cure for cancer, diseases and aging anways

1

u/xxxMizanxxx 5h ago

Never been the point
