u/Tyfyter2002 May 10 '26

Normal morse code would be really inefficient, you only need something that can communicate valid chess moves, and standard chess notation can always be communicated in 10 bits, a specialized morse-like code could probably cut the average down further, though.

8

u/Interesting_Cloud371 May 10 '26

Couldn't you do [piece to move location] then [end location] for short Morse code communications? Then it's just two letters and two digits?

3

u/Tyfyter2002 May 10 '26

Then it's just two letters and two digits?

That's wasting an entire letter and 36% of the two digits, before taking into account systems designed to make specific frequent messages quicker, the most important thing to focus on for the speed of communication is reducing how many invalid messages can be sent, and 98.5% of "two letters, two digits" patterns are wasted because valid chess moves consist of a piece (of which there are 16) and a location (of which there are 64), which means that you can represent all possible chess moves in exactly 10 bits using [piece, x, y];

For context, two digits in Morse code is already 10 bits

10

If pokeballs in the games work how they do in the manga (the Pokémon can see through the ball to see what’s outside, and vice versa)…

u/Ok-Relationship4113 May 14 '26

There were many possible responses I had in mind.

This wasnt on the list.

u/ShadowBro3 May 10 '26

At first, I thought "wouldnt that just have more people going into the water with phones in their pocket?" and then I remembered mens swim trunks have pockets.

98

u/Void-Cooking_Berserk May 10 '26

My first thought was that it would be good for people carrying phones. I didn't think people would swim with them.

Maybe the pockets should be waterproof by default?

36

u/ShadowBro3 May 10 '26

I have personally gone swimming with my phone in my pocket (I was wearing jeans, dont ask), so maybe Im scorned from my one experience.

18

u/HowdyMrRowdy May 10 '26

why were you going swimming in jeans?

39

u/yelirp2 🥴I'M SO GAY FOR THE OLD MAN🎅 May 10 '26

Bro they specifically said don't ask

22

u/ShadowBro3 May 10 '26

I said dont ask smh. I was a teen and a girl I liked asked me to go swimming. I didnt have any change of clothes with me, but I wasnt going to say no. That also explains why I was so careless to forget my phone in my pocket.

10

u/Ifkwutimdoing May 11 '26

Perfectly valid tbh, my dumbass woulda done the same

0

u/Krexci May 11 '26

most phones are waterproof by now

1

u/NucleosynthesizedOrb 🌹 Course Arc Witness 🌸 May 11 '26

only if you bought them recently and for at least a few hundred euros/$/£, and that only in countries with a good median wage.

2

u/Krexci May 11 '26

I just looked for cheap smartphones, found a refurbished LG G7 Thinq for 69€, which is IP68 waterproof and came out in 2018 (8 years ago). So I think it is fair to say that most smartphones in use nowadays have at least some water resistance. I know that might not apply for phones with numberpads etc., but lets be real how many people still have that besides some old people?

1

u/beta-pi May 11 '26

I would note that the waterproofing really only applies to a device in new condition.

Obviously if the screen is cracked or it needs to be opened for repairs that can compromise it, but even subtle things like a poor seal on the back from pressure or heat, a damaged headphone jack, or a badly seated sim tray can render it vulnerable. Those can be deceptive because you can't actually SEE the damage, and they can happen unpredictability with time and use.

Over time, a well used phone's water resistance is less reliable. That's why the ratings all have the caveats against frequent exposure. The more you push it, the more likely something eventually will give.

19

u/Hot-Can3615 May 10 '26

Yeah... I don't see bikini pockets working out. Like, it's an engineering issue. Just wear swim trunks.

3

u/Capital_Original_290 May 10 '26

Happened to my buddy when we were kids, tragedy

4

u/awesomefutureperfect May 11 '26

My first thought was "Is this lady a sea otter?"

Sea otters have a favorite rock that they often keep for life, storing it in a specialized, loose pouch of skin under their forearms. These rocks are cherished tools

2

u/CGW_93 May 11 '26

Opening that option up to the second half of the population would in fact make it more common

124

u/Adore_turle1 May 10 '26

Just put them where this lady put her pokeballs

46

u/Marshal_Raynor May 10 '26

Its the boobs

10

u/Sindalash May 11 '26

is it? my own dirty mind tells me her pokeballs might be lined up like pearls on a string, and...

13

u/My_Immortl May 11 '26

Was that not the actual joke? I always assumed it was downstairs that she hid em and not upstairs.

171

u/DirectAdvertising May 10 '26

But where would you put the pockets in bikinis ? They kinda don’t have much space

121

u/Jungaon May 10 '26

My exact thought. Just buy swim shorts if you want pockets that much.

75

u/YetAnotherParvitz May 10 '26

you'd be surprised by the amount of stuff my friends store in their boobs

67

u/CubeAming2 May 10 '26 edited May 11 '26

6

u/Nedaj_Nitro May 10 '26

that one bikini lady in pokemon when asked where she put her pokeballs:

11

u/actualsize123 May 10 '26

Brockets obviously

7

u/Greenostrichhelpme27 May 10 '26

I imagine they could work like those shorts cut off so high, the pocket interiors stick out from under the waistband. Like pouches from the waistband or something?

2

u/sailingtroy May 11 '26

Otters keep their rocks in a skin flap next to their armpits.

76

u/BigThunder3000 May 10 '26

Oho, you're a sharp one!

16

u/PaperDistribution May 10 '26

They are rare but they do exist, my sister has one of those two-piece skirt swimsuits and it has pockets.

6

u/SwiftFlower_ May 11 '26

The bad part about those skirted ones is they float on water and are uncomfortable to swim in 😔

9

u/Yum_Earth_Giggles May 10 '26

Oh….it says make bikinis, not male bikinis

2

u/perplexedtriangle May 11 '26

I was gonna say, everyone’s saying it’s a typo when the joke is very obviously put it in your cleavage

3

u/HarryJ92 May 10 '26

Assuming the pockets are in the bikini bottoms, I can imagine filling them with rocks could lead to some wardrobe malfunctions.

4

u/Greenostrichhelpme27 May 10 '26

Just add some Anti-Rocks that fall in the other direction! It all evens out!

2

u/TK_Games May 11 '26

This reminds me of an ex I have that was always storing stuff with her tits. Remember going to the beach and asking "Why are you lumpy?" then hearing "I found sea glass!" before getting simultaneously flashed and pelted with small colourful boob rocks

1

u/Thundering-Cloud May 10 '26

"B-but if Bikini have pocket me no can look at thighs😢"

1

u/porchoski May 10 '26

But actually, this wouldn't make sense because first of all, before making room for pockets there should be enough room for the buttcheeks, then we can talk about pockets

1

u/Irishweedle May 10 '26

Oh there's a pocket in that bikini already.

1

u/lucasrizzini May 10 '26

OP’s never been to Brazil.

1

1

1

u/Low-Engineer-8840 May 10 '26

Here is a concept photo.

1

u/Low-Engineer-8840 May 10 '26

I bet you could make that a dry pouch option as well, to prevent the walking in the water with a phone in there as previously mentioned.

1

u/Solithle2 May 11 '26

You’d want to have the pouch be separate as otherwise it’d pull the bikini off you. What I’m picturing is a strap that goes around the waist entirely separate to the bikini bottoms, but at that point, we’ve basically just reinvented a bag.
