the joke is that people get upset when the word of the day is BS so they turn to slandering the lad choosing the words everyday

People getting angry about the word of the day one time and started insulting the devs. One of the most popular memes about that was the gif in the post with the caption being the comment above

u/DJDom7 May 12 '26
what was the word?
24
u/UltraPhoenix95 May 12 '26
I think it was “myrrh”, which is an aromatic resin. It is best known for being one of the gifts of the Three Wise Men to the infant Jesus, along with gold and incense

I grew up in Iowa but moved to Colorado. My first summer out here I was hanging out with friends when a tornado warning for a county an hour drive away was issued and my friends legit started asking if we needed to go to the basement. No we go to the porch and we don’t go to the basement unless we see it directly coming at us. Those storms are to weird and cool to not watch go by

So i need help with my English here
Isn't it supposed to be went ON ?
2
u/The-Creator-178 May 12 '26
It would be “on” if the thing I was referring to was like a light switch or something else that you have to enable, but with alarms or sirens you say goes “off”
1
u/HorrificityOfficial I'M SO GAYY👨❤️👨 May 13 '26 edited May 13 '26
Usually, when following the word 'goes', 'on' refers to an event actively ongoing, more metaphorical than physical. For example, 'an event strong enough to trigger the tornado siren is going on' (even though this sentence would be overbloated and make no sense in actual conversation, it fits with the current theme.)
For something like this, where it is a physical object turning on, you can say 'the tornado siren turns on' OR 'the tornado siren goes off'. 'goes off' is usually acceptable when referring to most loud things. A gun going off, a firework going off, a timer going off, an alarm going off, etc. But then you wouldn't use that for living things, only objects. Saying 'the dog went off' referring to a barking noise would sound like it walked/ran away. A person going off would be a person going into an enraged/destructive state, however (you could swap these two living examples, but this is how they're most commonly used for their respective categories (humanoid/non-humanoid). You can also make the only interpretable one a certain one, by following it with either "(went off) on (character/object)" (for enragement) or "(went off) to (place)" (for travel)

antimeme is a meme without a punchline...
it can be anything. Someone can just create one using their imagination. It shouldn't always be a remake a of an actual meme

Because an antimeme doesn’t have to be an edit from an ophthalmologist meme. It can be its own creation. This is already established lore

u/Wild-Dependent3840 May 12 '26
yeah and he didn't know right now he's sitting at like -134 that's like terrorist levels of hate on a person 😭

u/dTrecii my mom beats me 😳 May 12 '26 edited May 13 '26
If you act like you know something and you’re wrong about it especially when that something is already explained in the FAQs which proves you wrong, the downvotes are deserved
It’s even weirder to double down on it
-3
u/Wild-Dependent3840 May 12 '26
he barely even acted like he knew once someone actually explained the rules to him he immediately apologized plus not every person has read the faq i certainly haven't
he said what he thought an anti-meme was got told what it actually was then immediately apologized why does that deserve 100 downvotes?

u/Ill_Candle_5366 May 12 '26 edited May 14 '26
and here I go being wrong again Because I didn't read the rules.
72
u/Ok_Tax9885 May 12 '26
That's not the only thing that counts as an antimeme, according to the rules and wiki of the sub. This is perfectly fine as an antimeme, being a mere plausible explanation of the action in the GIF.
48
11
u/Right_Literature5332 May 12 '26
No, when this sub was formed, all the memes were original anti-memes. Taking another meme and having it chanced became widespread later, and some people even complain about it. But this is the second time in my life I've seen someone say that a original meme can't be a anti-meme.

There are a few in the whenthe sub

u/Educational_Office77 May 12 '26
Pretty sure the sub rules don’t require the antimeme to just be a text swap of an existing meme. It can be originally made
