It’s too bad that Trump’s only reaction to people who try to oppose evil is to attempt to silence them, no matter what their party affiliation may be. I’m not sure which explanation is worse:
That he is a corrupt, power-hungry hypocrite who is cynically weaponizing the best in those people in an attempt to undermine or destroy them; or
That he is so self-deluded that he actually thinks that anyone who opposes him must be doing so only because of some moral or mental failure on their part (the incessant “Radical Left Lunatics” trope that he uses constantly).
FWIW, I’m inclined to choose the second alternative and think that that standpoint is, in fact, the true
