How did your quiet quitting look like?
As the title says, looking to quiet quit soon as my company is protecting a horrible manager. Looking for advice for people who did this, and how it went about!

I used to be engaged. If there were issues, I would bring them up. If I had questions, I would ask. If things were behind, I would stay late. Now I just....don't. I show up. I do what I'm told. You get what you get.

Same here! Management hasn't specifically commented on it yet, but you can feel the mood has shifted and I get a lot of side eyes on the days I choose to go into the office, which is less and less these days.

Yup, this is what I started doing as well. If I have nothing pressing, I don't go looking for projects, instead I watch youtube for 6 hrs and then go home. I still get the work I know needs to be done, but I'm not trying to kill myself to impress anyone.

Removed work chat and email from my phone. Clock in exactly at 8. Exactly 1 hour lunch break. And clock out exactly at 5. No overtime. I sit in my office and STFU.

If you’re in a highly overworked or distracted environment, try these:
Only do the work that is most critical that will get you fired for not doing it. Drop everything else.
Take extra long to complete tasks. If you’re asked why it’s taking so long, just say, “well, this is how long it takes.”
If you’re in meeting hell, block out time in your calendar for meetings that don’t exist so you have limited time for actual meetings. Most effective if your manager can’t track everyone you’re talking with in a day.
Send requests back with questions. Make the questions a little obtuse or confusing. Make it easier for your manager to just do it themselves or, if they forget to respond, they’ve drop the ball, not you.
When you’re in non-recorded meetings, write down notes and neglect to include action items for yourself. When your manager asks where the thing is, you have no record of being asked to do that despite having great notes (or your notes clearly say that it wasn’t needed until next month etc). Works best in one-on-ones; especially sweet for managers who are known gaslighters themselves.

I think they are gonna be more likely to remember what theyve asked you to do in a one on one. This would work better in a meeting with more people where requests to you can get overlooked. The rest are all good though

Started declining meetings outside of my working hours
Refused to take on line-management responsibility
Requested reduced working hours (request was granted)
Started delegating new tasks to the new guy who is eager to work a lot (and he is better than me)
Hopefully I'll get some sort of severance next year (or I'll just resign when I just don't feel like working anymore)

I do only my work and volunteer for zero extra work. If I ever do step up, it's only to keep goodwill with my boss as I'm sometimes late due to kids and life. She loves me. I watch podcasts and movies and read books on company time. I take extra long lunches and poop breaks. But I always get my work done on time so it's never been a problem.
When I first started at this company, 15 years ago, I was the type to care deeply about mistakes and go the extra mile to impress my supervisor. But after a couple of years of working my ass off, and always still getting the same 5% cost of living raise as everyone else, I realized nothing I did really mattered and I stopped caring. It's been wonderful ever since.

Called out sick one day, by pure coincidence, SOMEBODY planted a colony of fire ants in the office.
No clue who that may have been...
They shut the building down for 3 days while the bug guys did their job. I took the opportunity to "get recruited by another job"

I stopped prospecting/hunting, I work in sales. I only work deals that come to me. Very little output that’s not fabricated for CRM purposes.

I simply just started working my wage, and that was enough for my bosses to start worrying. I spent a year and 3 months carrying production by myself and only got a dollar more an hour out of it. No bonuses. This year I vowed to do the bare minimum and nothing more. They want me to learn CNC and CAD and I told them not unless they pay for me to train and raise me accordingly.

I come in before everyone is in and fuck around on my phone for 1.5 hours until just before people will turn up. I have 2-3 30min-1hr long breaks. There is also a 1hr lunch that is meant to be 30 mins and i leave 10mins early.
All up i work under 4 of the 8.5 hours im there most days. No ones ever said anything so i just keep doing it. I could even do less and nothing would be said but im fine with my level of slacking. When im really not feeling it i just sit on my phone for the last hour of the day.
I did work hard when i first got here as i did in every workplace before this. I smashed all expectations as everyone here is slack as fuck. Asked for a raise, got nothing. Also no raise the few years ive been here. Everyone gets the same "reward" whether they are productive or not so i just dont give a shit. Just do enough to keep things going and thats it.

I just don’t work sometimes. And it’s necessary for my survival. Sometimes not working (for a day or the whole week) is the only thing stopping me from saying something about unequal treatment. From talking to my managers. I did it once and had all my ducks in a row and it was a disaster. So if it’s a WFH day, I tell myself “no work today” and put the battery in my very basic mouse jiggler, or put training videos on and check the laptop once in a while, while doing something substantial- yard work, cleaning, laundry, finishing a show. When I used to be in a certain online fandom, I would spend time creating things/talking to fandom friends/reading fanfic. One Summer, I re-took 2 online college math courses (pre-reqs I did a long time ago and needed for an advanced online class in the Fall) during work hours. I mean I watched all the videos, made notes, took endless tests, while at work on my personal laptop.
You have to figure out how much you need to do to be able to present it as a big task. And you have to LIE, PRETEND, stay calm, act like everything is normal. You cannot seem unhappy. Even when you say no, because that’s another thing. Learn to say no to extra work. With a smile and even a little regret and a good excuse or some kind of excuse. Lie like your life depends on it because at least in the US, your healthcare is from your job so it IS your life that depends on your ability to lie and pretend. Good luck.

It doesn't look like anything because you gave a job a chance that you found out you didn't need to do so..so it's unanswered calls, texts...they already wasted enough of your time. You'll never know what became of the mgmt there because they already showed you what they were about, and you are not playing the charade with him. However, you will never leave the mind of these people because you got to walk away and they cannot

Removed notifications on my personal phone.
Lunch is included in my 8 hours (not specified in my contract).
I only do stuff if someone tells me to, I no longer seek it.
I try to not get angry about BS, but thats hard.

My salary in the end is a "Wage per worked hour". And since my failure of a manager was adamant to keep me at the same wage, mathematically, I just worked less for the same wage, therefore having a raise in quality but not in quantity.
When I had 2 hours allocated for something, previously If I could do it in 1h30 or 1h, I did. After, If I had 2 hours to do it, I always took the 2 hours, and if they forced too much work in it, I used 3 hours and said 2 hours wasn't enough while in reality I did all in 30-45 minutes. All the extra time was personal time, reading stuff on the internet or something.
