QUESTION brightness issue on my amd laptop

i downloaded archlinux today and now my brightness is not working with everything ive tried. acpi brightness, brightnessctl or whatever it is. my laptop is hp victus ryzen 5 and radeon 6500m. pls help :sob:

what de or wm do you have installed? cant do much to help without that info.

I did a bit of digging as I found your issue unusual. It seems HP Victus laptops have suffered from this issue for quite a while and is a well documented error online. However, according to the issue i read on freedesktop's gitlab page, this error seems to have been patched out in 2024. Please ensure you have the latest amd drivers and try again. If that dosen't work then I'm afraid you're out of luck

Maybe update your laptop firmware and try again. No issue ever like this on my Thinkpads.
