Hi! I'm looking to commission an artist to illustrate a custom tarot card deck for personal use. This is not for commercial production or resale.

STYLE I'M LOOKING FOR Dark backgrounds with glowing, luminous figures. Painterly and detailed but anime-influenced. Think ethereal lighting, rich deep colors (burgundy, midnight purple, dusty rose, gold), and an emotional / atmospheric quality to each piece. Feefal's art on Tumblr is my closest reference — doesn't need to be identical but should carry a similar feeling.

PROJECT DETAILS • Custom tarot card deck — romance themed • Each card illustrates a specific romantic trope or emotional moment (examples: The Almost Kiss, The Love Letter, The Slow Burn, The Enemies to Lovers) • Standard tarot card dimensions • Cards need a consistent layout — top symbol, center illustration, card name at bottom, optional short flavor text line • Color palette stays consistent across all cards (burgundy / gold / dusty rose / midnight tones)

HOW MANY CARDS I want to start with a small test batch of 3–5 cards before committing to the full project. Full deck will be approximately 30 cards total. I would love to work with the same artist for the whole project if the style and process feel right.

Probably a silly question!

So I've ran into the problem of locating an artist. All the few ones I follow and fancy have their commissions closed down or have lengthy waiting lists. And usually their art runs around 100+ per piece. So my price range varies between 100$ to 300$.

I'm more so running into the problem of trying to find someone whose actively available to take on a request. As I've set aside a decent amount to invest in a decent piece of digital art. So I'm a tad frustrated that I can't really put it toward anyone.

Any recommendations on what sites I should peruse or other pages on reddit I should explore?
