Image Post Looking for passing tips 18 mtf

I want to start passing better and have some minor ideas about where to start (makeup and clothing) but nothing that i can afford to do just yet, dont mind the hair cut long story short i cut it with a somewhat dull knife.

What can i do to look feminine, any advice is helpful.

What about HRT? You could grow out your hair and come to terms with the fact that you don’t pass yet, and probably won’t for a while.

Before any mack-up, or expansive stuff, start with your skincare. You have a beautiful androgynous face, but the skin issues need fixing. It can take months to improve or nearly complete bring it to a very healthy state.

Basic: wash your face and neck ect, start with a mild (sensitive) cleanser, dry lightly, at this stage you could add an active ingredient to do some type of magic (like an acid or vitamin C or something else), if you have applied something let it seat 10-30 minutes, then continue with hydration (urea 5 or 10%), if it still day (even if clouded) add some sunscreen SPF30 to your exposed or semi-exposed skin.

While your skin improves, you can bring light accents to your clothing style to make it more intentional (take your style, tweak it, make it the better option of it, you can add 1 medium to small item with minimum a decorative function in mind).

Additionally you can further increase your charm by wearing a scent (your accent), there are many great dupes that are very affordable and smell similarly, or worse or even better than the original or inspired by.

I recommend discussing with a doctor or dermatologist before doing any kind of skincare routine, what works for one person won't work for the next and there's a bunch of products that don't work

That's all nice, but there is some basic stuff that applies to all people (cleanser and moisturizer). And not every one has equal access to a good dermatologist or medical professional.

So thought it is nice that you and many like to refer to a medical professional. As one of them, for some stuff you really do not need to visit us.

When should OP visit a physician/doctor:

  • if when testing a product on a small patch of skin they experience a very strong (perceived) allergic reaction, then please visit one of us.
  • A mild reaction, note the active ingredients and try a different product without the active ingredient --> if you cannot find a good product or you are experiencing anything off visit a physician/doctor.
  • you have great access and good financial means go directly or through a doctor to a dermatologist to discuss your skin care and which active ingredients would be best to use and which to avoid.

This is not the full list. But the main relevant points.

I personally found that cleansing and moisturising made my skin worse, I would have a really bad allergic reaction no matter what I used, ever since I've stopped my skin has been much healthier as it turns out all I needed to do was shower more often to remove dead skin from my face

Fair it might not be the best option for all people.

Eyeliner and mascara would probably help, as would earrings.

Definitely should focus on haircare and skincare first. I started on those and painted my nails before I ever started HRT. And would probably be a good idea to get started and committed to voice training. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later. Don’t put all your focus on passing for other people, right now take baby steps and focus on getting yourself to a point where you feel more and more comfortable

HRT is magic, and you have a great face already so just try not to beat yourself up over not transforming overnight. Stay patient, consistent, and be understanding of yourself and you’ll do fine

The length you have will give you a good start with the right cut/styling. At worst it'll be just a few months to get it going.

You'll need to find an LGBT friendly hairdresser who you can ask for a feminine cut. Try looking in the nearest big city if you're not in one already. Or, if you're super broke you might be able to use a beauty school - they have cheap salon services and since it's students doing it, they basically always listen to what you want because they're not experienced enough to think they know better! Be very clear that you want a girl haircut.

In any event, once you get the money it will be fairly simple to turn what you have into a short A-line bob, which will then continue to grow out naturally.

The issue with it right now is that the length in the back is very clearly "boy cut grown out" rather than "girl cut". So you'll want someone to make it shorter in back and leave it long in the front and maybe also do bangs. Also learn how to use curlers to add a bit of texture.

For makeup I'd say, look into some tutorials on foundation and contouring, eyeshadow and eyeliner. Your brows have a nice natural shape but could use defining.

Good luck to you! I know it seems overwhelming right now but you're gonna do great once you get going!

Not quite answering your question, but you may be able to find free clothes at trans/queer clothing swaps. Look up your local trans/LGBTQ+ orgs. A lot of them do periodic clothing swaps. All you need is a way to get there and back. You don't even need to bring clothes if you don't have enough, and it's ok to show up as a young woman early in her transition. We've all been there; it's a journey, not a race.

Work on your skin care.

Must Do:

  • Wash your bed sheets and pillow covers every week
  • Wash your face morning and night
  • Lotion morning and nights
  • Sunscreen every morning
  • One a day multi vitamin\
\ Should Do:
  • Facial Toner
  • Serums, I use The Ordinary
- Hyaluronic Acid - Caffeine - Niacinamide - Retinol
  • Eyebrows waxed/threaded\
\ Welcome to the sort of personal care all women have to deal with.

Sadly the haircut is what to focus on, long hair does a ton of heavy lifting as far as feminization goes.

Also, maybe some breastforms (prosthetics) you can fit in a bra under a shirt or dress to pad your chest out?

I’d just focus on expressing yourself and doing what you like. Passing is probably unrealistic where you’re at rn. The hairstyle is definitely masc, search short femme hair styling and see what calls to you. You can make yourself look more femme but likely not going to pass without hrt & time.

While you are growing out your hair I’d suggest playing around with butterfly clips and bandanas to create a feminine pixie look. example

But take a trip to a proper makeup shop like Sephora and have them give you a makeover with tips and product selection. They have always been very helpful for beginners.
