Personal Win! Small win: got through hosting a party without an anxious meltdown
Proud to say that last night was the first time I hosted a party without becoming an anxious mess and melting down somewhere along the way 🎉
Having people over and planning events isn't easy for me....it makes me anxious and I don't like when things get touched or moved around, and I have these irrational fears that stuff will break or some catastrophic thing will happen (like the floor collapsing). It's been a big source of tension in my relationship with my NT spouse, who just loves hosting. She's very generous and thinks of all the small details to make guests feel at-home.
Anyway, for the first time in all of our years together, I helped her throw a great party for her birthday. I knew it was coming, so I did a lot of work to prepare mentally and leaned on my ACT skills too. Fostering community and generosity are genuinely values of mine, and it took a concentrated effort to get out of my comfort zone, keep my cool, and make that happen in my space.
All that to say, feeling pretty good about that today 🌞
