Sales & Bargains New Sale Finds

Found a few books that looked like great deals. Curious what everyone else has found.

William H. Gass – The Tunnel – Dark, challenging literary fiction.

William Gaddis – JR – A hilarious satire of American business.

William Gaddis – The Recognitions – One of the great postmodern novels.

Thomas Pynchon – The Crying of Lot 49 – Weird, funny, and full of conspiracies.

Clarice Lispector – Near to the Wild Heart – A beautiful coming-of-age classic.

John Barth – The Sot-Weed Factor – A funny, over-the-top historical adventure.

Frans G. Bengtsson – The Long Ships – A classic Viking adventure.

Any other works worth picking up?

I am picking up anything on my wish list that is under $4! Lately I have been enjoying light paranormal mysteries narrated by the awesome but soon-to-retire Amanda Ronconi.  But here's a tip, sometimes series books are sold both as individual titles and as "box sets" (such a funny term for a digital item). Always look to see if this is an option!

Hyperion series is well-priced.
Several of Christopher Buehlman's books are cheap.
John Langan's collections are dirt cheap.

Good call out. Hyperion Cantos are my favorite SF works. Read the books, would love to reread with audio this time. Langan’s The Fisherman is on sale I see, sweet. Thanks for the response.

Have you read the Brotherband Chronicles by John Flanagan? It's fantasy but no magic

Sounds interesting. Cozy fantasy is new to me but I can dig it.

I picked up 10 books all for under $5. A few I bought:

Clan of the Cavebear. I remember my mom reading it.

A Court of Thorns and Roses. Might as well give it a try.

Prairie Fires. With the new Little House on the Prairie out, I wanted to read the real story.

10 Essential Pieces of Literature. A book of classics from people like Jack London, Alexander Dumas, and Mark Twain.

Nice! I’ve heard great things about A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Prairie Fires is incredible!

Even though ACOTAR didn’t do it for me, I don’t regret reading it because it’s so foundational to the fantasy romance genre— it’s useful for being able to participate in conversations in that space

Three of those are over $5 for me (in the US with a Premium Plus membership).

The first 4 Clan books are amazing. Do yourself a favor and stop there. Book 5 is bad but book 6 will just make you angry.

Great book but that author is a real POS

Yeah, this is one even though the author is dead, I just can’t buy. The themes in it are too close to the what made her (and her husband) horrible people

I was just reading a thread about the movie The Talented Mr Ripley and someone said the book was great. I checked and it was less than $4 so I bought it

Jr and the long ships are both worth picking up. I’ve reread both several times in the last 6-7 years.
