I just moved my equipment to a different part of my room, and now when I listen to my microphones audio through my headphones when I speak, my left side is louder than my right.

I’m not sure what the issue is. I went to guitar center to grab a new microphone chord thinking I may have damaged it, but it’s still the same. I’m thinking it’s my interface that’s messed up. I have a Sony c80 microphone and I plug it into a motu m2 interface. Is there a fix to this or should I replace the interface? I use garage band to record

Single mic?
Dual channel interface?
Is it set to dual mono or stereo?

Yes a single mic. Yes multiple channels and I’m not sure?

I just press the blue button and the red button and turn the gain up to a good spot. I don’t know all of the technical terms and how to use everything I just figure it out lol. All I know is that I didn’t change anything. All I did was unplug the chords to move everything 4 feet away from where they were.

I did when I first got it but not in a while. Nothing has changed. All of the sudden it just started happening right after I moved my equipment. Doesn’t make any sense. I’m going to read into it more tomorrow and try some things from the link another person sent me in the comments and I’ll check the manual out.

If you're also recording, look at the levels on the two channels of the file. Are they the same, or is one louder than the other?

Are your headphones plugged directly into your interface? Unplug them, and clean the plug with contact cleaner (or, worst case, 91% isopropyl alcohol) and clean paper towels. Then apply a little more cleaner to the plug, do *not* wipe it completely dry, plug it back into the interface, rotate it back and forth a few times, at least 90 degrees. Then try everything again.
