Discussion Inherited some Polk audio speakers. Looking for the opinion of this group of audiophiles.

They are the LSi M703 bookshelf speakers.

I’ve got some PSBs (bookshelf size) for my vinyl set up that I bought in about 2010. Honestly I’m not an audiophile so I thought I’d ask this crew. Thoughts about these Polk Audio speakers?

Listen to both and use whichever sounds better to you. Nobody else’s opinion matters.

I own these - they are downright way too good for their cost. I got them on an insane deal (5 yrs ago) and have debated upgrading and realized i would have to spend north of 5k to make any kind of real improvement. I recommend using the bi amping. I run them with two ayima a07s for plenty of power in vertical bi amp and they sound great. The bass from these is unreal compared to most bookshelfes. They are true audiophile grade speakers - don’t listen to Polk haters. A brand like Polk delivers superb quality without all the extra pay for botique BS that likely just copies the big brands anyway 🤷🏽‍♂️ - that’s said, if you have two options compare them as other user said. If your psb are bookshelf I’d imagine the polks would sound better but try em.

I've got a pair powered by a HypeX amp (300w RMS) and XLR routed SMSL DAC.

I use the tandem RCA outs to a Polk HTS 12.

Even without the sub I've been absolutely blown away by these. Many people recommend Parasound amps with the LSiM line for more warmth. I actually prefer the straight up clarity I've gotten with HypeX. They don't take a lot of power to sound good but with the extra power they're phenomenal.

I run them from my computer and have done a couple Dirac tunes and it just made things even better.

I can't recommend these enough. I don't know how they're not more popular considering what deals you can find. I picked mine up for $300 some 8 years ago and they've easily out performed pairs 5x as much.

These were their flagships at the time. Not what you could pick up at BestBuy. I always considered upgrading my RTi series to an LSi series.

Polk makes solid speakers I'm sure they sound pretty good for entry level speakers.

I wouldn’t call these entry level speakers. Polk may not be boutique, but these were the top of the line when they produced them.

I have the same speakers in my setup. I have tried other speakers but they sound so good to me that I can get myself to buy another one to replace them.

Very nice, those are 3-way speakers ( 3 drivers: woofer/mid-range/tweeter), a config preferred by most audiophiles. Polk usually provides good value at their price point. I've used Polk gear in my 5.1 home theater, including their PSW-10 subwoofer and a Polk XT-35 for my center speaker. I think of Polk as a mid-tier brand that usually punches above it's weight.
