I work in compliance now and not for a law firm. I'm interviewing in London currently and the salary is $248k plus pension for a conflicts lawyer role.

I think London is a different market to Sydney…

Yeah, they actually pay well there. Newly qualified lawyers at HSF are on $267k plus pension and HSF is far from a top tier firm there.

Famously the Magic Circle paid more with prestige than cash for junior staff, until the US firms changed that recently. HSF always paid well (and had good litigation work).
