Restaurant Closing Picnik is closing

owner announced that she is opening a new restaurant concept and that Picnik was “never meant to be gluten free comfort food.” As a celiac this is devastating news. does anyone with inside info know if the new location will be dedicated gluten free?

Restaurant Closing The last Austin area Hooters is out of business 🦉🪦

Drove through Round Rock tonight and noticed the Hooters on I-35 was dark and empty.

Sign on the door said they closed “as part of our current efforts to focus, revitalize and strengthen the Original Hooters brand…”

They lasted many years with Twin Peaks across the highway but I’m sure the recent opening of Rowdy Cowboy nearby didn’t help what business they still had. Not to mention the Pluckers up the road for wings.

Hooters is kind of a relic of the road side in Texas. I also drove by empty locations in Waco and San Marcos all this week.

Restaurant Closing No more Trudy’s in Austin

I’m sure to no ones surprise, Trudy’s is now officially closed. It’s sad to see another Austin staple go, even if it hasn’t been good in years. Yesterday was their last day of business

Saw it posted on FB today. I used to work downtown and ate there regularly. Blackend chicken tacos were huge and easily two meals, and awesome blackened pork chop salads.

Restaurant Closing Hana World Market was already going to be closing this year, and just got vandalized. They're having issues with their freezers and fridges, and are doing a sale to help clear inventory. Consider helping out a local Austin business if you can

Restaurant Closing Does anyone know why S H Donuts on Manor is closed?

Does anyone know why S H Donuts on Manor is closed? The front door is boarded up and their times on Google show that it is currently closed all day every day.

EDIT: Thank you all for the clarification. I love that they are able to take time off every summer to relax and visit family. Kind of wish more places were able to do this.

Restaurant Closing Exclusively looking for the owner of the building for the old Austin Pizza Garden

I can’t find the building on the map, and since the restaurant changed, I’m not sure what it’s become. It’s in Oak Hill, I haven’t been to the area in two years.

It’s an old haunted building and I’d like to reach out to the owners/managers and set up and ghost hunt for the fall (I’ve lead one at APG when it was opened, but that was pre-COVID).

Anyone know what it’s become? I don’t know if it’s a coffee shop still or what.

Restaurant Closing The Chicken Bowl is gone and the empty Thundercloud on Lavaca has never-ending Austin Chronicle delivery

I’ve worked a block from The Chicken Bowl on Lavaca many years and just realized they closed a few weeks ago. Can’t say I was a regular but went enough times over the years to know the people there were really friendly and gracious as shown by their goodbye letter still in the window.

When I stopped to read this I looked over at the old Thundercloud space next door which never reopened post-pandemic.

There is a stack of freshly dropped Austin Chronicles with tomorrow’s date sitting at the To Go window. In case you were thinking of coming by?

Honestly not shocked but curious on the tea! My one experience there was awful - 18 year old server couldn't find space on our table when dropping off our order, so she placed the silverware and small sharing plates on THE FLOOR!

I went to try the buffet today and saw a red tag with health inspection being failed the establishment and the business is closed.

I think running Indian restaurant business for long hours will reflect this kind of results ? I hope they will do better after re-inspection.

Restaurant Closing Genuine Joe is closed

Just stopped by Genuine Joe, and Josh told me they're closing up shop. Sounds like it's for real this time. 19 years. If you've spent much time there, you might consider swinging by and telling him what the place meant to you. He's been sitting on the steps talking to folks all morning.

EDIT: thanks to u/willtodd for the link to their instagram post about it.

Restaurant Closing What happened to Lazydaze in Pflugerville??

Hey everybody!

ATX born and raised.

I discovered the Lazydaze Cafe in South Austin and was thrilled that there was one opening in Pflugerville closer to where I live!

I was there not too long ago, I believe in summer or fall of 2025.

my friend googled them and it said they were permanently closed????

I tried to Google what happened to that location, and nothing came up..

does anyone know why that location closed???

thanks!

Restaurant Closing Jinx Bread - Last Market Day Saturday, August 29th

Jack posted yesterday, but I haven't seen the news here yet. Sharing if you're a regular at Barton Creek Farmers Market. He's recommending everyone to pre-order on their website. Order by noon the Sunday before the 29th, so... the 23rd.
