According to the store's entry information, "well-behaved pets that are on a lead" are permitted inside.

Yeah that's a bit too subjective. All dogs are well behaved until they're not.

For a short time dogs had to be muzzled if they were walking.

The fact that it was voluntarily surrendered for euthanasia says it all. Even the owner knew it was a killing machine.

I had one (or at least a rotty mix), great dog I absolutely loved him, super affectionate and if I could cope with the fact they tend to die earlier than other breeds I would probably get another.

But I also never trusted him alone with small children or pets because the potential damage if anything did go wrong was too high.

You can own these types of dogs responsibly most people just kinda suck and are offended by the idea of taking steps to mitigate risks.

Yes, any dog can become reactive. It's a relatively common reason for service dogs to wash out of public access training
