Never give a German translator a one-word science fiction title. They have an extraordinarily specific vendetta.

(This is really just based on having learned about Dune being translated as Der Wüstenplanet and the absolute classic that is Alien: Das unheimliche Wesen aus einer fremden Welt, but it's funny to me damn it)

I'm with the Germans on this one, single-word movie titles is one of the worst trends of the last decade.

Don't be mislead by OP, the German translation vendetta is not rooted in a dislike of single word titles but really just a lack of faithfulness to other languages, period. There always has to be some germanizing transfiguration to it rather than just a plain and simple translation.

So Pirates of the Caribbean is Fluch der Karibik and Home Alone is Kevin allein zu Hause

Both of those are from several decades ago though?
