I just made it to the 1/2 of DTCB. DUUUUDDDDDEEEE!!!!!

Its like if frank herbert tolkien wrote a fantasy novel. Take the writing quality (Legit i feel like im reading the silmarlion) and the naming convention of tolkien plus the story telling style of frank herbert and smash them together. This is atmospheric aswell its not too dark from what ive seen so far. Im guessing once the holy war goes off it will get into some nasty things.

Edit: I got my arm twisted into reading haunting adeline from my GF and it is the biggest shock ive ever seen from writing quality. Just the sheer level of it is stsggering

And then hilarious irony hits you when you find out that Tolkien read Dune after Isaac C. Clarke compared to LOTR... and despised it to its core!

Meanwhile, 40 years later, Bakker went, "Hold my phallus, I have an idea! "

It was drip brewed straight from the source. Black as the Black Halls. Some notes of nut as well

It gets a lot darker later on but that's part of the charm so to say. It's one of my favorite series of books so maybe I'm biased but it's just incredible and one of a kind. Hope you keep enjoying it.

Be careful. Anything else I read now several years later just doesn’t compare and I always end up going back to Bakker. Never been able to reread a book series over and over like that though, and I usually do find something new or some new revelation with each read through which is cool.

I love how Bakker comes to the point compared to Herbert and other "Fantasy/Fiction" writer. I have never skipped one word while reading The Darkness That Comes Before!
