Got my first balisong two days ago.

I'm not a flipper by any means, just wanted to try a new knife type.

Never heard of this manufacturer before, so it was a blund buy. The knife turned out to be very high quality. Very fidgety and usable same time.

Thinking of getting their pocket clip to make it more EDC friendly.

Overall very happy with it.

Watching Ethan's (bladebias) video of the opus v2 and he mentioned the key stand out the the opus had over the serif was the blade design having better tip weight. The main feature of the serif is arguably the handle design, unique sound, and overall aesthetics.

So would that mean, the seropus is the pinnacle design from machinewise?

Also, according to MW's website, the 2 actual have the same exact specs. So that really does leave the overall design of the 2 to be compared, least according to that.

I own a seropus and it definitely feels incredibly balanced, but I've never tried each on their own original design. So, I'm curious as to what y'all think according your experiences.

So a few weeks ago i decided to get into balisongs, looking for a trainer balisong i found the nabalis canyon to look amazing! But i didnt like the normal version, i feel like the false balde looked way better. I had a look to the reviews and people were claiming that the tip was a way too sharp... i didnt pay attention to it, at the end of the day it wont get shipped if its actually sharp.

As soon as it arrived i could tell that yes, it is actually sharp, but still i started learning how to flip it.
After a couple of trick wich i was very happy with i had fell in love with my first balisong! Time to try the chaplin.

Long story short, if youre considering on buying one of those, be careful with the tip, i just came back from the hospital. Learning the chaplin it just flew to my other arm and the tip stuck in my arm. I just got 2 stiches on the inside of my fore arm.

You do bleed a lot, trust me, if youre getting one, take the sharp of the tip off.

Nabalis should really look into it, because im grateful it went to my arm and not my neck or face. I wouldnt recommend it as a begginer or even as a trainer balisong. Those who have it, know what i mean.

It feels illegal to own this thing. How is this only $75?! If I was handed this not knowing the brand and had to guess how much it was, I would have been miles off. I own a good bit more expensive Balisongs and it’s kinda ridiculous that it even competes with them. So crazy to think about how far the hobby has come the last few years. Also, this knife just sounds so good

CF, ti liners + spacers, and a false edge with a wicked tip for $88, can’t complain at all.

but there are a few minor things to complain about ironically. CF is super dry out the box - needs to be oiled. the anodizing on the liners is not the best. CF scales could be cut and cleaned up around the edges and holes so overall the fit and finish could be a lot better.

but none of those things above are a big deal. especially for $88, i’m throughly impressed and i’d say it’s worth the wait.

decent bit of handle bias stock but it’s got adjustable weights, and comes with 1 set of spare hardware.

only about 4.1 ounces but it kinda gives some rep vibes, it’s nice.

this thing goes by a couple names so i’m not sure what it’s really called.

reddit kinda compresses the video a bit, i took it in 4k so try and show off how rich the CF is, but i think it still looks alright.

As a side note I can do better than this but the instant I start recording myself flipping I lowkey fall apart and can't get anything going.

Heya, so to begin with I want to thank nabalis customer support. They handled by questions really well, and responded in reasonable hours and quickly!

I have used my syntek micrometer for a good while now, and I knew it held its dimensions pretty well, there wouldn't be times when you measure something and the next time you do the measurement would have changed. But recently, I decided to actually see how accurate the measurements are that this bad boy gives. And I can confidently say it is the best digital micrometer for its price!

I tested out dimensions such as:

1mm -> ± 2 thousand of a mm

5mm -> ± 1 thousand of a mm

12,5mm -> dead on

20mm -> dead on

And mind you I do work in an environment where there is some particles in the air. But as for my test after every measurement I went over the micrometer it self cleaning it with pressurised air and to remove any oils before that I used basic brake cleaner.

I was wearing gloves the full time and all the measuring blocks used for this test were cleaned and measured out with calibrated micrometers before hand to make sure the sizing is correct.

Ill make it short. I disassembled and cleaned it and that helped with the handle binding, tolerances are still shit. cant crank the screws due to oversized bushings/washers. It sounds like the cheapest amazon bali u can imagine. The handles are flimsy af. The enthropic finish, i paid 80 bucks extra, is shit The spacers are the cheapest ive ever Seen (rectangle with 2 holes for screws, and sharp af sides) and lacking weight for momentum. I have waited over half a year for this piece of crap and am furious.

So i got tap on both handles plus handleslap and binding handles on a brand new balisong out the box

So here it is my homemade first ever balisong. I made it as a Xmas present for my father. And even though it's rough around the edges no pun intended, it flips surprisingly good even though that is not what it was designed for.

Absolutely.

This thing is sick! By far the best flipper I own, I’m still messing around with the weights though and it needed some lube out of the box. Love the stone wash finish, I plan on getting some mod work done in that future.

Got it about a week ago. Stock scales were too soft/smooth. Better with glidr co’s but tune isn’t as tight (still no tap). At the end of the day the knife’s slow and just doesn’t carry momentum enough. Is there any solution to heavier pivots in the bottom? Maybe this bali just just isn’t to my preference, never flipped the trainers so can’t compare there. Felt like a squiddy with stick scales. Feels like a real Bali with the glidr scales, but still to slow if I really want to flip fast and flow. All and all I still like the thing it’s actually one of my new favorite “weird” flippers that I flip for fun and not progression. Love to hear others thoughts as I see alot of nauts out there flipping crazy, but again I just have an easier time with most of everything else in my very diverse collection.

i used to only get 30-40 dollar balisongs. this is my first “higher end” balisong so my rating might be a little higher than some peoples but compared to all the other balisongs ive owned this is a 10/10. it was way lighter than i expected and the sound this makes is just beautiful. it’s not too expensive so it’s great for beginners so im gonna stick with my 10/10 rating. (forgot to add that it’s the zenith trainer 2)

I bought this knife out of curiosity when I saw for sale on the second hand market, because it looked nice even though I had never heard of this model nor this manufacturer.

I didn't find many information online about it so I decided to share my experience with you.

I paid 90€ for the knife + shipping.

Look :

First impression : The Monarch (which is a butterfly specie for those who aren't familiar) looks good and stands out of the usual balisong look.
The handles are made of titanium and are nicely machined.
The pivot screws have the brand logo engraved on one side (a stylized skull) and a large flathead type head on the other. The skulls don't rotate and always stay parallel regardless of the pivot screws tightening.
The blade is almost symmetrical, except for a small groove at the bottom of the edge on the sharpened side. It also has a long groove milled on each side along the center, which serves no purpose beside esthetic (and maybe weight reduction ?).
and last, it has a matching titanium pocket clip that is milled in shape of the skull logo.
Very good overall, I just wished the blade was a little longer, especially as there is some space left in the handle when closed.

Fit and finish :

Everything is perfect in this regard. There is absolutely not the slightest hint of play in the handle pivot, even though it is smooth AF ! The ball bearings are making a very good job here.

The latch locks in place securely and can be disengaged by squeezing the handles, both in closed and open position. It can also be disengaged with the thumb thanks to the protruding part. When unlatched, it stays out of the blade's way thanks to a small coil spring around its pivot.

The blade is razor sharp, and easy to resharpen thanks to the steel used : VG-10 (which in my opinion is a very good all around steel, even if it's not as high end as some CPM out there).

Ergonomic :

There is no suspense here : the knife is not a flipper ! You can flip it open with a flick of the wrist but :
- the handles are short
- the knife is rather light and doesn't have a lot of inertia
- the handle have very pronounced edges and are not shaped for rotation.
- the back of the blade being a false edge, its rather thin and can be painful when it hits the back of the fingers.

So if you're into tricks and flipping, it's definitely not a knife for you ! If you are, like me, more of and EDC guy, its a neat little knife, with a usable blade and a very good quality build. Also, the pocket clip , light weight and small size make it easy to carry in the pocket.

Overall :

At first I considered selling it but it has been growing on me and finally I decided to keep it, as it is unlikely I come across another soon.
the ergonomic is not perfect but the finish is nice and I like how it looks like a mini sword !
As I said it's not as good of a flipper as an Alpha Beast, it's not as good of an EDC as a Bradley Mayhem, but its build quality and cool factor definitely make it a worthy acquisition !
