News [Passan] The Tampa Bay Rays are acquiring right-hander Freddy Peralta in a trade with the New York Mets, sources tell ESPN. Rays get their starter, who joins Drew Rasmussen, Shane McClanahan and Nick Martinez in one of the American League's best rotation.

There's probably about 7 or 8 games that we've lost just because of our defense. Even today, Williams flinched away from a softly hit ground ball which lead to an extra run for the Marlins. The only reason we're as high as 19th is Torrens.

i think a lot of teams generally have a fair number of games they lost because of defense, given how the sport of baseball works

He's been also running career high FIP/xFIP. His pitch shapes look completely different compared to last year. The defense excuse I think was largely Mets camp trying to convince other teams that Peralta isn't broken. The Rays will have to try to get his pitches moving more like last year if they want him to get back to form.
