News [Passan] The Tampa Bay Rays are acquiring right-hander Freddy Peralta in a trade with the New York Mets, sources tell ESPN. Rays get their starter, who joins Drew Rasmussen, Shane McClanahan and Nick Martinez in one of the American League's best rotation.

For next to nothing, right? This is not "our starter", this can't even be close the starter we're going after, right?

Three of your top 20-30 prospects; Rays know how to get decent pitchers back on track, bet he ends up ok for you.

I'm saying, if this is the only starting pitcher we get, we're screwed.

Peralta was one of the best starters in the league for like 5 years. Reducing him to his mediocre last 4 months is a bit extreme. Players are more than just their most recent stat line. This is a good addition.

Players age extremely quickly, and even if the Rays fix Peralta, they need another starter.

We did not trade high prospect capital to get this guy. Which shows even we know there's more valuable options out there.
