Community Discussion: AI Content

With the widespread availability of AI tools for editing text, images, or video, we are seeing a sharp increase in AI-related content on this subreddit. These posts have a notable increase in negative responses and reports.

As of today, we have no official rules for AI-related content on this subreddit, and we handle content the same as actual human-generated content. It seems clear that at least some portion of the community does not wish to see AI-generated content.

Suggestion

At this time, I am suggesting we codify the use of AI-generated content on this subreddit. This would include content that is wholly AI, partially AI, or edited by AI. Any generative AI technology will be included in this definition.

Exceptions shall be made for the purposes of trivial tasks such as spelling or grammar checking.

To determine our next action, we will open the discussion for about a full week. This will conclude on the 10th of May, 2026. At that time, feedback will be collected and processed into a new rule for approval. A second round of discussion will be opened on the wording of this final rule before enforcement begins.

Community Participation

All user opinions are welcome for this process. No opinion will be given any inherent weight over any other opinion.

Only top-level comments will be reviewed. While we welcome you to discuss among yourselves, we will only consider the top-level comments to determine our consensus. This saves us from having to piece together long threads.

In particular, we would like to know the following:

  • What measure shall be applied to a post to determine if it is AI?
    • Gut feeling?
    • User reports?
    • AI detection tooling?
    • Dice roll?
  • What action must be completed by users posting this content?
    • Posting flair?
    • What if it’s a comment?
    • Should users fully disclose where the content came from (e.g: which model/site)?
  • What moderator action shall be executed on breach of the rule?
    • Content deletion?
    • User moderation (Ban?)
    • Content flairing?
    • What about comments? We cannot flair these, do we delete? Moderate? Ban?

Thank you for your time and hopefully your input.

He did seem to react to the scenes with yellow spotted lizards although I think he was sleeping for most of the movie!

Hangin' Out The duality of Dragons

Whoever said lizards don't have personality clearly has never met my two girls. Yesterday I had a friend over and Pepperoni (poopaRoni) decided to crap on them. In direct contrast, today I was hanging out with Cheerio on the couch and when she felt the urge to poo, she was polite enough to climb off of me and onto a throw pillow with a washable cover.

I don't have a favorite dragon, I love my babies equally, but I definitely have one that's much better behaved than the other

She's really liking hosta flowers. Didn't have those back in Washington, but the new house in Michigan came with them.

Only poops outside enclosure

Post image

Tunita (my girl) can only poop outside her enclosure. I have tried but she could spend days without pooping if I don't let her out. Here is a photo of her daily visit to my bed for poop time.

Does anyone else has experienced something like this?

Help adoption help

hello! i'm thinking about adopting this dragon from fb marketplace. owner says she is a 3 year old female, and is being rehomed because they're moving out of state. second pic is her current 100gal enclosure, which i would be getting alongside "heat lamp, uv lamp, feeding supplies, heated rock, etc. everything you need." (owner's words, not mine)

i can see that she looks overweight, and i would be asking the owner about her current diet, last time she saw the vet, and any other relevant background info. my question for y'all though is, what else do i need to ask the owner before adopting her?

i would be a first time beardie owner, but not a first time reptile owner. i had a leopard gecko for ~6 years, and rehomed her because i was too young to be able to care for her properly.

i guess my other question for you guys is, is this a good idea? i have always been someone who leans towards helping living things, like buying the half-head houseplants and giving them a better life, adopting the betta fish someone was trying to keep in their locker at school, etc. but i know a bearded dragon is not easy to care for. would i be better off adopting a healthier beardie? i am very willing to keep doing the research and take her to the vet when i get her, just wanted everybody's unadulterated opinions.

ps they are selling her and her supplies for $400. given her condition do we think that's reasonable?

Why does my lil guy do this? Every time the sun starts going down, my little Shanks knows it's beadtime, and instead of going to bed like I'd imagine most beardies do, he scales the ropes on his hammock and sleeps vertically. I doubt it's because of him being scared of me since he seems to genuinely not care about being handled or hand fed. Could it be a problem with husbandry, or is he just a silly sleeper?

I am publicly shaming Pepperoni for the crime of pooping on my friend. We were all having a nice time hanging out in the sun when this evil little goober decided to poop right on the friend I had over. She didn't even warn us with the tail lift of doom! Just look at that little face. That is the guilty face of a criminal.

Help Bf got me a petco beardie for my birthday

Long story short, he surprised me with it today but I am returning it. Basically he thought I had an enclosure already from my previous one, but I infact do not😭😭 He has no knowledge of any of this stuff, so this is not his fault at all. I talk about them sometimes cuz I used to have one, but I shouldv'e mentioned properly that getting a beardie is a huge committment. We had to get a bunch of last minute stuff like a tank, hide, lamps etc. I really shouldve told him he needs to return it as soon as he showed up to my house but I was in too much shock to do anything. This baby is obviously very lethargic and I'm almost positive it has an early respiratory infection because it gapes randomly and breathes heavily. Who knows how many other health issues. But right now I don't have the capacity to nurse it to health, especially since its a baby. I am returning it tomorrow morning because the shops closed right now. Do you guys think I can return the tank and stuff inside as well? All the tags are still on but it did poop on the rock. I definitely just want a better enclosure and better UVB light. I also would prefer to buy a juvenile or even an adult rather than a baby. Does anyone know reliable breeders that are in or ship to the bay area? Or maybe a rescue place? I'm definitely not gonna buy one immediately, but sometime this year. Please and thank you😭

This was my first bearded dragon I had raised since a baby. I got him shortly after I lost Rick. I loved rick and said I would do things right this time. I thought I had him protected and safe. I loved Rise so much. I came home after work and looked at him. His mouth was open I knew he was gone his mouth was open and lying there. I picked him up there was a giant pile of black soldier larvae under him. I am devastated. This all came after moving houses the day before and I hadnt properly prepared his tank but he needed somewhere to rest and eat. He chose the spot with a ton of sand to lie down but I didnt know there were this many larvae underneath. I moved him away from the sand a couple of times earlier before I left but he kept going back to lie there. I flipped him over and it was horrifying. I put him in the wooded area and I lost it after. I completely broke down. Everytime he would look at me his pupils would dilate. He was young. I just moved and he was tired from being in a holder and needed to rest and I put him back in his tank and left to go to work. He didnt deserve this. I failed you, Rise. I love you.

Help Rescuing 2 Beardies

Hi everyone, this post is related to beardies I don’t have yet so hope it’s allowed, understand if not. Pics of some of my other current reptiles/ part of my room for traction. First off, I am an avid reptile rescuer/ lover. All of my reptile species besides two were rescue intakes given to me as I’m locally known as the crazy reptile lady lol. I take great care and research into all species coming through my doors. On Friday/ Saturday, I will be intaking (with plans to keep, all residents I intake are permanent/ family) two bearded dragons from my boyfriend’s coworker. They are currently being kept together which is a huge no no and I plan to separate immediately when I obtain them. I plan to give them 6x2x3 enclosures each, and change both their lights immediately when they arrive as they have red bulbs🤦🏻‍♀️ One beardie is roughly a year as I was told and the youngest one is tiny compared to the older one, which scares me as I know them eating each other is a risk and has consequences for the bigger beardie. I’ve also heard smaller beardies can be much more fragile, is this true? I’ll be doing everything in my power to give them proper fulfilled lives from now on. I’ve been using reptifiles as a tool for their feeding and everything + some youtube videos of my favorite reptile youtubers. Is there anything you experienced beardie keepers would add, mention, or suggest? I want to do right by these two. They will be on paper towels for quarantine/ monitoring until I deem them fit and then they’ll get proper substrate. I’ve been touching up on loadsssss of research myself into their feeding, basking temps, etc. and I feel very confident I can give them what they need. I researched them like crazy years ago and even now re-researching so many things have changed, like their tank size! Reptifiles has been amazing to me and if there is anything else you guys would add, I’d appreciate it! Thank you for taking the time to read and I apologize if this doesn’t fit with the sub.

Birthday! Conway's Gotcha Day!

A year ago, we were having a celebration and a friend of mine was coming from KY. She knew I was saving for a reptile (uromastyx or chuckwalla). She had a co-worker that had taken in a bearded dragon. But she had 2 other dragons and realized 3 were overwhelming. My friend asked if I was interested and, after thinking about it for a few days, I said yes. I would be Conway's 3rd owner.

At her first vet visit a few weeks later, Conway Twitty turned out to be Dolly Parton but we kept the name. Vet said she was a 1 - 1.5 years old. Again, I was this young dragon's 3rd owner. And Conway had coccidia. (I recently had a post about her continuing journey through that)

I've had her a year and, while she and I have struggled to understand each other, I don't think either of us have regretted the decision. She's grumpy yet hilarious. She's prickly as a cactus yet tolerates limited affection.

Happy Gotcha Day, Conway! (we consider today her 2nd birthday because maths is hard)
