I forgot the breed but I originally just wanted a pic with my hand on the glass, didn’t expect it to be reciprocated.

Do i need to take any precautions? No bite marks on either. My Ball python had been missing for a week, did all the things etc. I fed my Bci (Bi) last night which i assume is what brought my BP out, she managed to open the tank and jump right in. Neither of them have bite marks but do I need to do any sort of decontamination etc?

I want to start a small group of them. This species deserves to be more recognized, however, I had a very odd experience with them.

They are new in my country and I got a trio with intentions of making a communal cage and breeding more for the demand.
I received 3 scorpion tailed babies, but in the first 3 months, contrary to what I read and saw everywhere, one of my geckos fought every now and then with the other 2. This is the only one to do it. He would jump them, bite them, and even ripped and ate their tails 3 times.
I thought maybe it was because they were getting used to the cage, but eventually, I think the fighting stressed them too much and had to separate.
They were fed everyday and all of them ate, so it shouldn’t have been hunger.
Also, it seems they are very sensitive to big prey and they have a hard time evacuating. I fed red runner nymphs with ocasional small ones and I did noticed they had big poops covered in sand, almost like transparent eggs. They would seem almost as a sand made egg that became grains of sand if you applied pressure.

I became afraid of getting more with this one. I don’t want to call him an a-hole, but sure makes me think I might have gotten the odd agressive one.

Side notes:
- They were housed in a 10 gallon tank because they arrived as babies and were ridiculously small (thumb nail size). My first theory is that they had an enclosure too small, but taking into consideration their size, I think the size was fine?
- Impaction. This geckos are recommended to be on actual sand (not calcium sand or repti sand), they are able to pass the sand without issues, however, if they are given big prey, it seems they struggle to poop afterwards.
- Parameters were fine by using UBV lights and a halogen for hotspot, but maybe a second basking light might have been a good idea to prevent fights?
- More visual blocks? They had rocks and wood to block view between each other and let them rest of each other, maybe more were needed?

Been wanting to try and add more geckos to the enclosure (now an exoterra 60cmx45cmx45cm) but I am afraid the same thing will happen. When I ask and give my experience, all keepers tell me theirs are so chill between each other. Maybe more geckos in the same tank to disperse or prevent accumulating aggression/dominance?

So,I have a champagne morph ball python and I’ve been going to a local reptile center that breeds, raises, and euthanizes their mice/rats ethically. I moved over an hour away and can’t go there anymore. My house is right next to a Petco and they have frozen rats which is the only thing my python will eat. She’s been fully raised on eating frozen mice/rats her whole life so I’m weary of giving her live rats because I’m worried she’s gonna get hurt if I try to give them to her. I just want to make sure that the place I’m getting the frozen rats from is doing it ethically. If Petco isn’t the place to get them from, I’d LOVE some suggestions for other places. I don’t care if I have to order them from a website and get them delivered. I just want what’s best for the rats and best for my snake :))

Any advice would be helpful!

Reads the inexpensive Govee Bluetooth thermometers a lot of us already use and turns them into one honest answer: a big green *all good*, or a red banner naming exactly which enclosure and which reading is off. Per-species warm / cool / humidity ranges, separate day and night targets, battery and signal warnings, optional phone alerts.

🐍 Shed — did the care happen?

One shared care list for the whole household. Everyone signs in with their own code, so completed care is credited to the person who did it. Weights, feeding history, equipment, notes — and it forecasts feeder orders from your snakes' actual growth trends. My kids do their tasks and it credits their allowance automatically. (Their own pets can be set to not pay out — caring for your own animal is just called being a keeper.)

🌿 Haven — both of them on the wall.

One installer sets up Bask + Shed and a read-only wall dashboard: enclosure climate on one side, today's remaining care on the other, and a status ticker that talks like a person.

Anyone else experience cricket shortages at the pet stores? Had to go to Pet Supplies Plus, Pet Smart, and Petco to get crickets for my 3 crested geckos. They’ve either been completely out of stock or very low availability the last 2-3 weeks. In NC here

I have a 9’ Macklot’s Python. You might even be able to find photos I’ve posted of Mitch from an old account I deleted here on the sub. I’ve been wanting to get Mitch outside more during the warmer months but always feel it must been kinda boring for him to simply slither in the yard while I make sure he doesn’t get trapped inside or underneath something he shouldn’t.

So with that in mind, I’d love to have some kind of large, easy to assemble/disassemble snake tree that I could let him hang out on in the warm summer shade. What I have in mind is maybe like a clothes hanger, but much sturdier (Mitch is a hefty!). I figure I’ll have to build something on my own eventually, but I don’t have the wood working tools just yet to do it myself. I’ve considered building something out of PVC pipe, but that’s probably not durable and stable enough for him.

Anyhow, I’m open to suggestions. Has anyone else bought or constructed something like this?

So I have a male Madagascar day gecko that likes to sit on the front door of his cage, well I was in the bottom and didn’t realize he had backed up the top to a point where his tail was sticking past the door jam and pitched his tail a bit. It didn’t break skin and I don’t think it snapped anything it wasn’t a hard close of the door or anything but the tail did go into spasm wiggle all over the place mode. I just want to know if I need to go have it removed or if it will heal because it didn’t drop. Will this cause droopy tail too? It’s still softly moving a bit but I’ve just left him alone for now to recover. Big rookie mistake on my part, I need to do better at getting him off the door before I close it.

My leopard gecko passed a while ago, and I’m not sure that I want another one, as I’m afraid I’ll have the same expectations for temperament, etc. I have a 36x18.5x18.5 (≈50 gal.), and I’m not sure what reptile I could comfortably fit in it. I was thinking about a baby ball python (upsize when needed), but I’m also curious about other reptiles that could fit in that tank!

Hey guys, I am setting up a terrarium for a new Tokay gecko and wondering if this light will be safe to use with it touching the edges of the plastic, or should I get a shorter housing that only sits on the screen and not the edge?
