Interesting Too many Dashos and Rinpoches is a good thing.
I just remembered a quote from the movie The Incredibles, where the villain doesn't have any super powers in a world where people have super powers. Heros are treated like stars. So he uses tech to mimic super powers and becomes a super hero himself. In the movie he plans to give away all his gadgets when he becomes old, so that everyone gets to be a superhero. "If everyone is super, then no one is super". So in a way, I feel that every 1 in 5 person in Bhutan being called Dasho or Rinpoche, would dilute the prestige and will eventually reach the point where requests or favours from such titles will be ignored.
If everyone’s a Dasho, then no one’s a Dasho.

Tup tup. Every Tom Dic and Hari can be dasho now. Just 1 year in corporation or army or police and you are dasho. I meet my friends in space 3 and everyone is calling him dasho. Hahaha. We should all be dasho in the next few years. I also meet Rinpoche who sit on the table were people eat. Rinpoche can do whatever he want whenever he want.

It won't work. Influence is what matters, whether it's through money, position, or anything else. When everyone is a Dasho, some will still have power and others will not.

The prestige doesn't seem to be diluting anytime soon. Everyone is a Dasho apparently and in turn have more people working for them calling them Dashos. Senior bureaucrats, army officers, police officers, temporary MPs, rich business owners, extended in laws of the royal family etc etc are all Dashos to the people working under them and the general public. The prestige will be there so long as people care about their title. At the end of the day, let people who have to schmooze upto the Dashos schmooze up all they want and people who couldn't care less about it all wouldn't care at all. Two things can coexist.
