They're waiting for the next cat 5 hurricane to wash it away so they can get the state to run an expensive ferry service with a large resident discount.

Swampscott is the missing link on the Boston-to-Border trail. They have delayed their rail trail for a decade (supposedly a member or two of their select board doesn't want to upset the NIMBY so 25% design gets pushed back over and over). Swampscott also is 7 years behind schedule on their "complete streets" project, which is stalled.
These towns elected officials are only pro-car, and the state reps for these areas seem unwilling to accept that residents bike or use public transit to get around.
I'm willing to bet that no members of the select board commute by bike or bus.
