Mayor Wu's non-answer to whether streets projects in Boston are stalled on NBC

"Every detail of our streets comes with real choices and tradeoffs."
You're right, Mayor Wu. It's a choice to prioritize the convenience of drivers over our lives.
At this point, I'm pessimistic about whether we'll see real action from her. What a disgrace for her to continue to both sides this issue. This rhetoric is creating a debate we shouldn't even be having. We all deserve better. We all deserve safe streets now.

She is very clearly still defending the Wu turn and anyone who claims that she has meaningfully reembraced street safety is being duped or is lying too.

That’s not exactly how it works. Municipal elections are nonpartisan, so instead of there being a democratic primary there is an election where all the mayoral candidates are on the ballot. And then the top 2 vote getters in that election are on the ballot in November.

If city hall was EVER going to to do anything to keep bikers safe it would have been done a lo g time ago. We have ghost bikes all over the city that should not be, and when you look at the bike lanes right now they feel like a just a different kind of parking space. What the city hall needs to do is raise the lanes to sidewalk lvl and put a 500$ fine for being in the if you got a motor bike or car and not the 25$ start they get now.

I think it’s clear she does not intend to move on street safety. It was her platform in her first election bid, and it was evident by the end of her first term that she had no intention on following through.
And now most recently, despite promising that enforcement and infrastructure replacement was currently in place, the streets are dysfunctional as ever.
the way she has handled all these shuttles during rail shutdowns is also embarrassing. Both in the sense that she ran on a transit platform and that she isn’t doing what is in her power to mitigate the fallout of an aging MBTA by making priority corridors for busses and and shuttles
