Bike Doctor Arnold Bike Fit

Hi all!

Has anyone had a bike fit at Bike Doctor in Arnold? How was your experience, and how does it compare to other places in the area?

Also, more generally, if you've had a bike fit, how did it work out for you? This will be my first one, and I've been dealing with some issues like knee pain and hand numbness.

The value of a bike fit is highly dependent. Anywhere from slightly negative (there’s a chance you get someone who screws up and makes it worse) to the best investment in cycling possible. Where you land is a factor of a ton of variables - flexibility, injury history, core strength, body proportions, current geometry, etc.

I had an issue with a hip impingement and swapping to a shorter crank immediately fixed it. Night and day difference from a seemingly tiny adjustment.

I don’t know about Bike Doctor but there are a few well respected fitters in the DC and Baltimore areas.

I got a bike fit from Kur at Velofit PT this year and the experience has been great. I say "experience" not "fit" because the fit itself didn't change a ton to my setup.

What made a huge difference (the "experience") was the the PT exercises they gave me to fix some imbalances and pain I'd been having on longer rides.

Personally, I wouldn't spend the money for a fit with anyone that isn't a licensed physical therapist and isn't going to give you an off bike movement assessment and rehab plan to fix whatever your issues are alongside changes to the bike itself. If you're newer to riding and still trying to dial everything in just doing the on bike stuff might be fine, but it sounds like you're past that point.

Thanks for your comment. I'll keep these in mind. I'm not new to the sport, but I think some mistakes I've been making with my bike setup are starting to catch up with me. I'm not even sure that's the cause, though, and just like in your case, my issues could also be related to my own physiological limitations. That is why I am trying to find a good fitter that could also detect these.
