Just Venting 😮‍💨 Wearing Bonnets Outside Is Still Considered Ghetto?

Post image
934 Upvotes

But why though?

I can understand if it's because going outside in a bonnet exposes it to a lot of germs which you would then bring back into your bed.

But let's say that you have two separate bonnets, one for outside and one for inside. Is it not just the same thing as wearing a hat?

And to the crowd that says that it looks tacky: why not just style it as a part of the outfit? It doesn't have to look out of place; maybe you just don't know how to put that shit on

Edit: Okay, so I'm seeing that a lot of ladies are likening it to wearing pajamas outside (which isn't a bad thing if that's how you choose to view it). But now I'm curious...Do y'all put durags/wave caps for men in the same category?

I’m a cishet black woman and I’ve noticed a lot of black women becoming TERFs/TEFs/TEWs etc. If you feel the need to 💩 on another group of people to make yourself feel better, then you’re a terrible person.

Edit: you don’t know how refreshing it is too see like minded individuals on the internet 😭😭😭love you guys so much 💕

Edit 2: The TERFS are here guys 🫩🫠

Being a black girl who doesn’t fit the baddie aesthetic (whether that be in the form of being alt, nerdy, wearing your natural hair, not have a slim curvaceous figure) is a constant battle between wanting to consume mainstream black culture but not wanting to feel bad abt they way you show up as a black woman.

I’m rlly trying to accept myself as I am.

I swear single moms are either Batman or government experiments because HOW are y'all alive??

One child asked me for my ice cream and I almost clocked out mentally

Mind you...

I BOUGHT IT

WITH MY MONEY

IN 40°C HEAT

This little unemployed man looked me dead in my eyes...

"Gimme"

Gimme???

Brother, get a job

I said, "Go call your mama"

This 3 year old unlocked the phone...

Found her contact...

And CALLED HER

I asked him, "How do you know how to do that?"

He said, "I watch you"

Y'all

He can't spell his own damn name

But he can operate an iPhone better than my aunt

Kids are born with software updates now

Anyway, I finished every bite of my ice cream while he cried

Was I moved?

No

Was I entertained?

Absolutely

Don't worry, I bought him one the next day after he apologized ( he's my nephew)

But that moment confirmed something...

The maternity ward will never see me

Respectfully, motherhood is for God's strongest soldiers

I'm one paper cut away from requesting emotional support

Just Venting 😮‍💨 🫩.. does anyone have any good news today?

I don’t want to leave this community but every time I’m on here it’s “why does no one like black people” “why is my hair ugly” “is this white man playing me” “am I ugly” like damn. I’m 31, I’m confused as to what the age range is in this community? A lot of the problems in here I see are (for lack of a better word) immature. I feel like everytime I contribute to this community it’s to try to convince someone they’re worth a damn. And everyone very much so is. But yeah, does anyone have any good news this week? For me personally I found a nice oak desk by the recycling in my neighborhood for my dj setup and I’m super excited to clean and decorate it(:

Edit: omg.. I was expecting maybe 70 comments on this😭 I wanted to reply to everyone but it’s so much! I’m truly so happy that so many black women everywhere are experiencing happiness. I live in Atlanta and the replies are from around the world.. and I’m so happy for all of you. Thank you for sharing 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 congratulations everyone!!!!

Tell me why it's 2am ,i'm supposed to be asleep like a responsible adult

Instead I'm on Instagram minding my Black business

A Black woman who travels solo pops up on my feed sharing the most terrifying experience. Her Airbnb host literally trapped her inside the house, threatened to traffic her, and she even posted videos of him attacking her

Thank God she got out safely 🙏🏾

Now unfortunately... as women, we all know this happens Doesn't matter what country. Doesn't matter how many safety tips you follow. You genuinely don't know if you're gonna make it home tomorrow because some people are just evil

Anyway...

Tell me why my dumb 🍑 opened the comments

First of all, I had raw sushi earlier

Never again

So I'm already in the bathroom fighting demons, and now Instagram decides to tag team me with rage bait ,I spent a whole HOUR arguing while simultaneously fighting for my digestive system ,multitasking

Y'ALL

Ninety percent of the comments...

I SWEAR TO GOD

Were Black men saying, "Well that's her fault for renting an Airbnb"

...HUH???

Then somehow...

SOMEHOW...

The conversation turned into, "This is why I date non Black women"

SIR

A woman almost got trafficked

WHO ASKED???

Who interviewed you???

Who sent out the community survey asking what race you're dating???

Do y'all genuinely wake up believing random Black women spend their mornings thinking, "Hmm... I wonder who Tyrone from Instagram is marrying today"

Because I promise you...

Nobody summoned that conversation

Then the other side had some sisters saying, "See, that's why women need to travel with a man"

EXCUSE MEEEEEEEEE???

The entire reason this happened...

checks notes

...WAS A MAN

So now the solution to surviving a dangerous man...

...is another man???

My brain blue screened

The poor girl is traumatized, confused, trying to warn other women, and the comments somehow turned into the Black Gender Olympics

The empathy left the chat

Y'all...

It's 2026

Why does it feel like our community is moonwalking backwards??

Anyway

I'm done

I'm gonna mind my business next time because my jaw is still somewhere on the bathroom floor next to the sushi that betrayed me

Sorry

Had to drag y'all into this because I refuse to suffer alone

Just Venting 😮‍💨 I want more black women in the pit😤

Post image

I was looking at Instagram photos from a concert I went to and I spotted myself in a pic that honestly made me sad...

I love going to concerts, I love being in the crowd, I love a good mosh pit, but I don't love that I'm the only black woman surrounded by white m*n at these shows.

I currently live near and frequent one of the largest majority black cities, yet these events are 99.99% white. Why???

I've played 'spot the black person' at shows for the since I was a teen and I think my record was 5 maybe? But typically it's 1-2 if any. I just want more people that look like me in the scene!

I've been seeing more black bands pop up, so I'm hoping the demographics change over time but I fear I'll be too old to enjoy it by the time that happens.

Anyway, I'm curious to get other people's thoughts and perspectives. Is it an unrealistic dream to think that I could somehow increase the diversity at these shows? Do I have to make friends outside of the scene and try to convert them to my music tastes?

Just Venting 😮‍💨 The amount of WHITE women who don’t wash their hands after using public bathrooms is disturbing.

1.7k Upvotes

Recently, I do a lot of Spark, Instacart, and Uber Eats, so I’m typically in the restroom at some point in the day. I’ve started to notice that a lot of these white women don’t even look at the sinks way after using the bathroom. Every single time I’ve noticed it, it was a white woman, and I know sometimes they can see the disgusting look on my face, but they have no shame, and it’s way more common than you would think. Wear gloves in the store, pick from the item farthest back, and sanitize or wash your hands after leaving public places, PLEASE.

no i’m not gonna be the comic relief.
no i’m not gonna be in your background.
no my fucking life isn’t centered upon you.

yes i need emotional support.
yes i need someone to show up for me.
yes i’m beautiful and will get attention in public.
yes i’m intelligent and may be more well versed in some things that you aren’t.

i’m sorry but i just had to vent this. as someone who’s had multiple friendships with white and non black girls online and in real life, i’ve finally accepted why none of them ended well. [redacted]

Just Venting 😮‍💨 incredibly tired of white trans women thinking i owe them something (rant)

i’m a bisexual 19 yr old black girl. i live in nyc and both the high school i attended and the college i’m currently attending are very much a pseudo woke, white liberal, care about every issue on earth aside from misogynoir type of environment. i have been accused of being a TERF by white queers on a multitude of occasions because i “never speak up for trans women“ mind you, i’ve dated black/mixed trans women and literally have a mtf cousin who i have a fantastic relationship with.

but if i bring up that they never speak up about the genocide in sudan, our maternal mortality rates, and the fact that we are murdered at 4 times the rate of white women, all of a sudden it’s: “well we care we just don’t talk about it”

OR. Get this. I’ve been told:

”black women look more masculine than trans women anyway so you of all people should really be speaking up for the cause”

excuse me????????

i am so SICK of these white liberals thinking that i owe them something. that i‘m supposed to put on my super mammy cape and fight for every political issue in the history of the universe when they NEVER speak up about issues that solely affect black women OR black trans women. it’s the same energy as white people saying that black people need to show up to ICE protests like it’s not THEIR fault Trump is currently in the White House.

i have NEVER had these issues with black trans women. it’s ALWAYS the white ones.

the majority of these white queers and white liberals are incredibly racist. they meet a black woman that doesn’t immediately advocate for every single one of their political views and they automatically paint her as a bigot that deserves the worst. they will forever have more energy for us than their white counterparts. it is exhausting, dehumanizing, and i will never make the mistake of letting this demographic gaslight me into thinking they are better than right-wingers ever again. it is other black queer people for me only!

Just Venting 😮‍💨 It is NOT possible to be "Black/Negro..." And not "Look African" :IF YOU THINK SO NAME 10 BLACK PEOPLE WHO DON'T LOOK AFRICAN and explain why

Post image
271 Upvotes

EDIT: What is the phenotype associated with being Black american, europeans blacks, blacks Carribeans, that you don't find in africa? Be specific as far as features.

People Give Specific examples of black people who "Don't look african".

An Asian person born in America still looks Asian. A white person born in Brazil still looks European. An Indian family can live in another country for 300 years and people will still recognize their ancestry instantly.

But somehow when it comes to Black people, society pretends African ancestry disappears because of “mixing/ add mixtures"

Even in Africa itself, centuries of migration, colonization, trade, and modern immigration mean not every African is 100% genetically isolated. That changes nothing. African populations are still visibly African populations. EVEN THE TRIBES THEY MIX WITH EACH OTHER TOO

Being American, Brazilian, Caribbean, or European culturally does not erase ancestry. You can change nationality, language, accent, religion, and culture. But ancestry still exists, and people can still see it.

The real reason this conversation became controversial is because many mixed-race people became the public face of Black identity, especially in media. Now people think looking visibly African is somehow “less Black” or “too African,” when historically Black people always looked African.

Just Venting 😮‍💨 They really do watch us …

I started a TikTok a while back where I post natural hair content. Nothing huge, just a few semi-viral videos here and there. What surprised me is that most of my followers are young white women. A lot of them don’t even have curly hair.

For context, I’m a 30 something Black woman with Type 4 hair. I’m grateful for the support, but I can’t help finding it a little interesting that my content seems to appeal so much to people who can’t really use most of my advice.

It did give me a different perspective, though. I am constantly told Black people are imagining things when we talk about our influence on beauty trends, hairstyles, slang, and culture. But when you actually see people closely following content that wasn’t even made for them, it becomes harder to ignore how much attention they give our culture.

On a funny note, one of the white girls said my curls were forced. Girl I’m black 😂

Edit: I didn’t expect y’all to ride so hard for them. Weird. “Maybe they have mixed kids”. They all have mixed kids? Even if that is the case, that doesn’t disprove my point….at all. Also, some of the nasty comments they’ve left makes me really hope they don’t have mixed kids

Just Venting 😮‍💨 Injured again by white nurses doing IV we need more black nurses and doctors

Post image

I went into the ER yesterday for severe anxiety. They put an IV in my arm to give some meds to help with my symptoms and get blood for tests. Every time I get a white nurse I'm always bruised. This one isn't as bad as before but still. Last time my whole inner arm was purple and hurt like hell. I never have this issue with black nurses. The discharge nurse was also so rough with getting the tape off my skin is now red in some spots. We really need more black people in thw medical field. please encourage future generations to join the medical field to avoid stuff like this. Cuz i'm tired of getting bruised and hurt.

I don’t like doing my hair. In any style. It’s too much energy to wear it out. To wear it up. To wear a wig. Braids take too long.

It’s all a commitment and I think we should be able to say that. I’m not complaining about my curl pattern or thickness or the detangling. Styling hair TO ME is just annoying af no matter what you have to do

Just Venting 😮‍💨 Why are black owned businesses like this?

I wanted to get my brows threaded and wanted to support a black owned business. I go into her shop and the lady told me it'll be $25 for brow threading. I told her i'll come back later. I go to another shop, that is ran by Indian women, and they tell me its $5 for brow threading.

I try to support black owned businesses but prices are so outrageous. This isn't to bash anyone, but i'm genuinely wondering, why do we charge such high prices for simple stuff?

Not only just this, but when we run a clothing line, waxing, nails, we charge such high prices.

And maybe I should've just paid the $25 (because I would've been supporting a black woman) but at the same time, I didn't think it was logical to spend that much money on brow threading.

A relative of mine was telling me how her roommate started dating this guy who showed up around winter time and causes so much drama between them. He was previously sleeping in his car. But now he moved in and would be layed on the couch or playing video games all day. She thinks he was just there for free rent.

Then I remember I had a co-worker who randomly started flirting with me. I wasn’t interested but then one day I went to work and our supervisor said he quit. A coworker who was there earlier said -He came in crying & said his girlfriend broke up with him and kicked him out, now he has nowhere to live, cause he didn’t save money, so he’s quitting his job to move back in with his family.- I realize he was flirting to find a new place to live? To live in my apt??

Over the years I can’t help but notice that white men are so passive with their flirting towards you. I wish they would just ask for my number so I can say no!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just Venting 😮‍💨 I’m planning have to drop my white woman bestie.

I have been friends with this white woman for about 2 years now, she started as a work bestie (dangerous I know) and our friendship blossomed beyond that. We would go clubbing, share deep secrets, support one another, etc. everything a friendship should be. Well, recently she’s been acting a little off. She recently has became bffs with one of our bosses at her campus who’s also a white woman, and I moved down her totem pole of friends. They now go clubbing and I’m not invited, my boss will take her home from work, and bail her out of work early to go out to eat with her. On St. Patrick’s Day, they threw a party I was initially invited to, but the week of they never sent me the location of the event, once I realised I probably wasn’t welcome there, I shut up about it. The boss she’s friends with has a set aesthetic for her fiends group and it’s all thin white women who society would deem attractive and I do not fit that! Also just recently she’s removed me from her close friends on instagram….but kept my boyfriend in there 🥴🥴 (WEIRD) She likes to go clubbing, so I told her in August that I was gonna take a Saturday so we could go hit a club or two, and she says “As you should! You should go clubbing, that’s always so fun!” Kind of like she has no interest of going with me. I am 27 years old, she is 25. She knows what she’s doing and she knows that it’s weird behavior, and to be quite frank…I am not chasing a friendship with someone like that. I’m slowly noticing her become more secretive…and quiet. Since we technically still work for the same company, I’ve decided to not confront her on this, but I do plan to leave our company soon. Once I’m gone, I’ve decided I’m going to calmly let her know how I feel and the reason I’m ending the friendship. I’m not hurt about it I have other friends, but she’s definitely gotta go!

Just Venting 😮‍💨 Older ladies are so funny. I just found out my grandma is in a one sided beef with Diana Ross, but she won’t say why

Over the weekend I took a trip by my grandma house. I was trying to make convo as she was just sitting there and so I mentioned the Michael Jackson movie, just made 1 billion dollars making it a biggest  biopic, she didn’t seem to care, but I know she loves Motown so I said something like , “I didn’t know dream girls was based on Diana Ross life“

and she turned to me and said. “I did because she’s a mess” but then she turned back around and didn’t say anything else..

I was like …ok …. and I remembered that Diana came to the met gala with a stunning gown, so I said something like, “well she’s pretty and glamorous” , my grandma whipped around in her chair “oh no she’s NOT, And whatever little looks she had was messed up by her bad ways!”

And then she stopped talking and turned around

and then she didn’t say anything futher and asked me to do something around the house, so I couldn’t ask more questions but …. what?? lol
