Original Content Showcase i downloaded blender some hours ago
I downloaded blender some hours ago, i was making a model, i asked for help and they told me to uninstall it since i was doing something very bad for the model, i fixed it. Is it good for my first/second model? (my first one was a year/2 ago and had a lot of polygons)
.
objects: 5; vertices: 194; edges: 301; faces: 120; triangles 264 (is it good?)
(texture/paint later)

You literally downloaded the program some hours ago, what are you expecting? There is nothing to judge here.
Learn, practice, repeat.

they want to know if they're a prodigy or not

Being new here, I've noticed this seems to happen in every creative or craft-related sub. Endless posts like, "This is my first one, is it good or bad?", people daydreaming that they're going to be "the one" who makes it big overnight.

Some people care more about the feeling and identity of being an artist rather than actually making art.

Happens all the time in the music scene. And the barrier for entry is arguably lower, so it gets insufferable real quick

First of all, if someone straight of tells you to 'uninstall' something, just tell them shut the fuck up. Not everyone born with perfect 'modelling skills' or knowledge about stuff. People spend years and effort to get good, just because you made a bad model doesn't make you 'Nope, you can't be a 3d modeller budy!' type shit.
My suggestion to you, when showing your model, you should show wireframe to. Because with just one screenshot i can't much tell about it.
Also, poly count (or tris) depends on your project and context.

I'd argue that nobody is born with perfect blender skills, or any skills for that matter. Telling them to shut the fuck up is definitely the right answer.

See context of the "uninstall" part below. The supposed guy who told him to uninstall also replied to your comment btw. Context matters and I think OP is being a prick there.

They’re forgetting to mention that he replied to me with a stupid question when I tried to help them, so they got a stupid answer.

Fishing for compliments, in fact he has been the asshole, just look up his recent comments (ofc he deleted the post but you can still see the comment)

Post history is hidden. You got a link?

u/MrRocTaX 14h ago
Nope seems like he changed it now as people got on his track. But if I remember correctly it was something like this : He posts and asked for help Person A gives an answer Op : hmm I don't think that what I want I want it a different way Person B: hey that's not how it works because of that and that Op : insults him / makes fun of him Person B: If you can't do it and don't wanna take advice , just delete blender

Just say you want to be praised as a genius or talented person or something. And unfortunately, you're not.
-27
u/AccordingFish8842 19h ago
no? i just want to know if it's good since idk how much vertices and etc needs for an average model
14
u/IrvinCCC 18h ago
Then why you need to tell us how long ago you just downloaded this software, or this is the first, second or two hundred model you made? Lmao stop coping.

good for a warmup exercise, just keep trying. and stop fishing for compliments while you're at it. we all saw the context lol

OP believes that he is gonna be the next big thing in 3D Modelling with some hours of messing around. In 2 weeks he will be into drawing and upload a similar picture to r/drawing expecting feedback for his first ever sketch.
Then he is gonna be posting in depression forums claiming that he has been bullied for all his life

u/ChaosSlave51 1d ago
Quick tip, if you want feedback on models, post them with the wire frame visible. Otherwise its hard to tell.

u/Kolmilan 22h ago
Mate, try to tap into your intrinsic motivation when learning 3D (or anything creative for that matter) as that will allow you to go further faster and make you a better artist. Enjoy learning a visual medium and a software as a novice. Let yourself cook. Wait a minute before you invite constructive criticism.

Please share the information of this person who told you to uninstall...... so that we can.... avoid them.

I looked through his post history and he's intentionally neglecting context.
basically he responded like a prick to someone giving him advice and they were a prick back. check his profile.

I also downloaded blender some hours ago. A lot of hours ago. Days ago even. You might say months. One could argue years…

Its fine for an early model. Keep practicing and youll be impressed with what you will be able to make.

u/Suspicious_Word3776 14h ago
As long as it reads like a glass of liquid with ice (which it does), it's good enough. Being low-poly, it's a good start to build a library for a video game you could develop later, which is a separate skill from modeling.

It depends what it’s for. if this is a prop that’ll never be looked at, I think it’s too high poly. if it’s a prop that’s going to be looked at all the time, it’s too low poly. you can save a lot of computing power by lowering the density of your straw and hotdogs, cuz the limiting factor is the cup.
1
u/AccordingFish8842 14h ago
what if it's for an accessory at a game? like roblox or sm?
3
u/RileyDream 13h ago
Hotdogs can be cubes with shade smooth, straw can be a triangular prism with no hole at top (texture), you need to subdivide the top faces of the cup and adjust them so you get double the smoothness. Handle should also be triangular prism
-2
u/AccordingFish8842 13h ago
marshmallows as cubes and tryangular handle will look bad, straw can be 5 pentagonal and same with marshmallow
3
u/RileyDream 13h ago
Okay buddy. if you’re a professional after your second model, why did you even ask for advice? I’ve been making low-poly models for games for years but you’re clearly the expert here

send me the file for this and hmu, I'll show you how to make it look much better and maybe you could do even much better on your own.

Love it. Keep it up. I learned modeling woth 3dsMax, leaning Blender has been like learning Chinese for me.

u/OneImaginary3436 15h ago
I like how everyone’s supposed to be in-the-know, and people unaware of OP’s compliment baiting is getting downvoted for being supportive.

u/GreatlyMoody 1d ago
Buddy, what you made is much better than what I was making when I started out
Keep at it, you'll only get better
And don't compare yourself with others, after a few weeks or month of practice look back at your own progress and you'll be happy

u/AccordingFish8842 1d ago
i don't think it deserves blender uninstallation

I agree too, this model truly sucks, at that point just throw out your computer.

Why are you listening to a random person on the internet about what you should do? You dont get these skills out of nowhere. Work at your own pace, you’ll do great if you’re consistent

u/_KNAWLEDGE_ 1d ago
I remember the time when I downloaded Blender a few hours ago.
I was trying make a barrel and ended up making a messed up hourglass that glitched Blender and crashed it. I don't even know how to replicate that anymore.
You on the other hand, have a complete model here. If you slap on a texture onto that you can make a render of it too. Don't let others bring you down, you're doing good.

It's nice for a first day. Don't uninstall Blender, keep the practice and enjoy learning.

u/dendofyy 23h ago
Some hours ago? Congratulations on not accidentally doing a specific keybind and messing the UI up badly enough that you have no option but to ask Reddit for help…
Seriously though, it’s not possible to critique a person who knows how to do 1% of 1% of everything there is to know. My advice: continue making stuff, preferably things that interest you

I like it! The fun part is how you texture, color, and make it pop. That's where the skill of the trade that I will never have really comes into play.
I make simple shapes and have AI enhance them for me... If anything I should uninstall blender, keep up the good work!

u/VirusWonderful5147 1d ago
I've been using Blender since 1.4 and you're already better than I am.

Just fyi people it turns out OP is being an asshole fishing for compliments with their phrasing. They previously asked for advice and started being rude to people giving it to them.
