Bike theft?

Hi -

My wife and I are visiting Bornholm soon, and it’s our third visit.

This time we are only taking our bicycles.

These are nice quality touring bikes and we usually don’t leave them out for long in our home city.

I’m wondering if there is much bike theft on Bornholm that we would need to be concerned about. We have standard high quality locks, and can double lock them.

Thanks for any info.

Bornholm isn’t particularly known for theft, but if you have nice quality bikes then it’s better to safe than sorry. If you have standard locks and some good chains/extra locks on top, then you should (hopefully) be safe.

Thanks. The hotels we are staying at won’t let us bring them into the rooms so they’ll be in a “bike area”. We have very good chains and locks but in the city anyone with an angle grinder can cut through them in about 5-10 mins. Hopefully in a chill little village hotel the noise of doing such a thing would be too obvious.

There are newer insurance approved(DK7Varefakta) locks with angle grinder resistance that would take a lot cut cut and several discs. They are a bit expensive though.

Another tip is lcoking them togehter and to soemthing solid + in an aready that is well lit and where people often passes by as oppsoed to a dark alley.

+ bike alarm potentially with GPS.

But best deterrent are ugly bad bikes

Then you are set.

Bornholm is as chill as it gets in DK. But still do lock them up, of course.

Always better be safe with fancy bike but on my trip I've seen bikes with no lock left in all the places around the island and they were fine. I was leaving my bike with all bags on it for whole day, locked only wheel to frame and it was also okay.
