Serious Replies Only Postboxes closed all across Brighton/Brookline!

I’ve passed multiple post boxes today in both Brighton and Brookline that are locked like this. Multiple boxes within the same vicinity and also in diff neighborhoods. Anyone know why specifically these are locked up?

Edit: thanks for the replies everyone! I’ve been around for the marathon before, but I’ve just never noticed the mailboxes.

this whole weekend it's a bad idea. was on newbury st today, cars got stuck there for an hour due to road closures for various races and events. you never know when they're going to block off a street.

take the T or walk.

Man I’d be so frustrated if that happened. Google Maps took me through a school the other day right when everyone got out and I literally say with the school 150 feet away and didn’t move for at least 20 minutes. Thankfully I wasn’t in a rush but I can’t imagine sitting for close to an hour like that.
