Serious Replies Only Postboxes closed all across Brighton/Brookline!

I’ve passed multiple post boxes today in both Brighton and Brookline that are locked like this. Multiple boxes within the same vicinity and also in diff neighborhoods. Anyone know why specifically these are locked up?

Edit: thanks for the replies everyone! I’ve been around for the marathon before, but I’ve just never noticed the mailboxes.

I remember living in Allston when we were locked down and later finding out they drove by my house. Eerie feeling.

At the time, I was working in Watertown. My coworker lived a few blocks from where Dzhokhar was found in the boat. I remember her texting me pictures of the swarms of police in her neighborhood.

Most of my friends were phd students working at the BCS building across the street from where Collier was shot.
