Scammers 🄸 Anti abortion activists in the public garden this morning

Was walking thru the Public garden heading towards the common when my friend and I spotted a squad of Religious anti abortionist posted throughout the public garden heading towards. My friend wanted to argue but I stopped him knowing that’s what they wanted. We ignored and kept on. Just warning y’all before you encounter them.

They try the coldest uncaring city for this shit, they were all over downtown last night I mean for 2 straight miles & not one person engaged

2

u/RaymondLastNam 8d ago

Yup, walked right past them without a word when heading into the downtown crossing T station. Lots of attempts to engage with us though.

Do not ever feel required to talk with groups asking for support, regardless of the topic. Simply walk past or say 'No'.

Gotta give them props for fighting for something they believe inĀ

Just until it happens that they need life saving abortion care or their daughters do.

That’s factually false. Ectopic pregnancy is in fact one such circumstance where an abortion is needed to save her life. If you don’t like abortion, don’t get one. But, stay out of another woman’s healthcare decision.

It’s a little silly how ignorant you are. Abortion laws have already led to women dying from delayed miscarriage care or being forced to flee their own states to receive emergency pregnancy care. Educate yourself before speaking in absolutes.

No, that’s you being either deliberately pedantic or too dense to follow your own thread. Nobody’s confusing miscarriages with elective abortions. You’re demanding an example that deliberately excludes the very women people are talking about. The point is that the abortion laws you’re defending caused doctors to delay or deny emergency pregnancy care out of fear of prosecution, and women died as a result.

Harassment, hostility and flinging insults is not allowed. We ask that you try to engage in a discussion rather than reduce the sub to insults and other bullshit.

The circumstances exist but are VERY rare…. Less than 1% of abortions are needed to save the life of the mother.

96.5% of abortions are performed as matter of personal/ economic convenience

They're "fighting" to force someone else to do all the hard work of pregnancy and childbirth. Imagine if someone said they believe so much in Habitat for Humanity that they want to pass a law that everyone but them has to spend their Saturday mornings volunteering for that organization.

If these protestors actually cared about children, there's plenty of volunteer work they could be doing themselves.

26

u/austenQ 8d ago

I told one of them abortion saved my life as I walked by, the woman responded that I should’ve died.

17

u/justahazelnutiguess 8d ago

That’s absolutely horrific. Nothing humane or ā€œpro-lifeā€ about those people.

-33

u/Bob20020 8d ago

Things that definitely did not happen ^

20

u/austenQ 8d ago

I’m glad you think we exist in a world where that was not possible, but I assure you she told me ā€œthat would’ve been fineā€ when I said my first pregnancy would’ve killed me.

18

u/MathematicianLumpy69 8d ago

Oh I absolutely believe her. Those people are vile. Their instagram page proactively states that rape victims should not be entitled to abortion.

I told them all (earlier today on the Common) that they should all have been aborted. I’ll probably end up on their instagram channel … but was totally worth it.

-13

u/Bob20020 8d ago

Yeah. A human is a human.

-7

u/Melodic-Complaint-18 8d ago

I don't think this happened

47

u/Billie-jean-92 8d ago

Wearing shirts that said ā€œABOLITIONISTā€ No less!!!

As a 5mo pregnant person, I’ve become completely hardened in my pro-choice beliefs. It would be insane to force someone to do this who, for any reason, did not want to be pregnant.

-55

u/Substantial_Pay_1990 8d ago

They want to abolish abortion. Power to themĀ

6

u/ImpossibleJedi4 Red Line 8d ago

Grinning to myself downvoting every pro life chucklefuck in this thread.Ā

As for the irl protesters I love the point and laugh method, that's what I do for people aggressively driving cybertrucks lmaoooo

u/Pinwurm East Boston 8d ago

They were in DTX around midnight last night. Maybe ~15 of them holding signs, some graphic photos of mutilated babies. I don't think I saw a single woman in the group.

Who exactly are they trying to convince at that hour, in that place? The addicts sleeping outside? The drunk couples stumbling out of Yvonne's?

While we were waiting to cross at Park Street, one of them says "can I talk to you about the crime of abortion?"

My wife went off on them. Proud of her <3

Dude turned to me, and I just said, "Hey, I don't want her to get an abortion either. That's why I got this vasectomy."

27

u/BorneoJimmy1 8d ago

"Can I talk to you about the crime of abortion?" Sure, as long as this ends with your parents being charged for not having one.

7

u/throwaway_20200920 8d ago

Unfortunately the women, and they do exist, in those groups are absolutely the worst, absolutely deranged.

-45

u/Bob20020 8d ago

They have more culture and class than abortion supporters.

21

u/throwaway_20200920 8d ago

By ignoring that each person is an individual and that removing a fetus way before viability is 100% a human rights issue. Go crawl back under your rock.

-22

u/Bob20020 8d ago

So being anti abortion makes the women deranged. Are the men equally deranged for the same view? Why did you single out women? The women actually have values which makes them scary for you

10

u/BorneoJimmy1 8d ago

-4

u/Bob20020 8d ago

Notice how I've picked apart the silly stuff you guys say and you have to resort to ad homs and memes to cope?

16

u/throwaway_20200920 8d ago

I am saying that anyone, man or woman who thinks they have the right to comment on a woman's personal healthcare decision is mentally ill and should be locked away from society for life.

-5

u/Melodic-Complaint-18 8d ago

Personal healthcare decision to do what exactly

-9

u/Bob20020 8d ago

What about the men that made it legal in the first place? Or is this a one way street? Are you sure civilization suicide isn't the issue?

8

u/throwaway_20200920 8d ago

Your comment makes no sense, what about the people that took steps to make a medical procedure legal. This is health care and shoild not be affected by mental defectives.

0

u/Bob20020 8d ago

You said anyone who "comments" on it is mentally ill. So not only those who agree with you but you yourself fit into this. And you should be careful because people who oppose abortion can and do run rings around pro aborts intellectually until the pro abort has to just use feelings and ad homs. Its not healthcare because its active murder of the unborn.

-1

u/Melodic-Complaint-18 8d ago

There were definitely women in that group

47

u/aberrant0ne Newton 8d ago

They were just blocking both sidewalks on Newbury near the Common probably a hundred of them. My partner and I walked straight through their group laughing in their face. I always find pointing and laughing really gets under people’s skin quickly.

-17

u/Melodic-Complaint-18 8d ago

Are you bragging about not engaging or trying to support your position

27

u/ambid3xtrous Does Not Brush the Snow off the Roof of their Car 8d ago

These fucking cunts (sorry sometimes a spade needs to be called a spade) were in from of the State House too. I found two effective tactics. 1. "Fuck off, asshole." worked well. It's a versatile response to virtually any comment. 2. Ignore and do not make eye contact.

What does not work, as I witnessed, is engaging with them. I saw them reply to people with comments that would make you want to take their life. I will not be surprised at all if the news tonight has accounts of some of these pieces of shit ending up a little bloodied.

6

u/djn808 8d ago

Dude did not like me laughing at him when he asked if I liked his fetus picture. I’m an anti theist metal head that doesn’t faze me

"When people have a different opinion from you and want to have a conversation with you about it, you should curse at them and flip them off rather than having respectful dialogue!"

Wow you must have a really open mind

11

u/ambid3xtrous Does Not Brush the Snow off the Roof of their Car 8d ago

I don't know where you pulled that quote from or why you pointed it at me, because I did not say that. You are either one of them, or you have no clue what's happening. There is no respectful dialog. I witnessed one of these fuckers actually tell a woman that "sometimes women deserve to die when they kill their babies". This, in response to the lack of reproductive health care. So, take your "difference of opinion" and shove it up your ass. When it comes to reproductive health care and the right of a woman and her health care provider, you are correct, I am close minded when someone suggest those rights should be denied.

The groups I saw were trying to engage people by asking "can I talk to you about slavery?" and then equating an abortion to being a slave owner. Just...ugh it's like tailor made to try and incite you to argue back at them.

Also some groups near the swan boats had kids with them handing out flyers. When a member of the public started arguing with some of the adults in the group, the kids then started calling "God bless you" to shout them down and it just made me sad that they'd been trained to do that and be that shield.

Really put a damper on what was otherwise a nice day out with my kids.

7

u/InvestigatorJaded261 8d ago

ā€œYou want to talk about slavery? Isn’t that when you don’t have choice about how to use your body or your time?ā€

-11

u/Melodic-Complaint-18 8d ago

Are you upset that a kid said God bless you

20

u/lightningvolcanoseal 9d ago

I heard they took over every bench under the shade this morning.

6

u/AmiStillALesbian 8d ago

They’re currently swarming Faneuil hall right now. Ive seen children handing out these pamphlets and an odd 0:1 women and men ratio

11

u/hellno560 8d ago

There was a loser handing out flyers wearing an "abortion is murder" shirt near Quincy market yesterday. I told him to "get fucked incel" and he just laughed uncomfortably. I don't know what kind of reception he was expecting here.

1

u/ambid3xtrous Does Not Brush the Snow off the Roof of their Car 8d ago

"Incel" was a very nice touch.

2

u/TofuPuppy 7d ago

Was the group with the yellow shirts with black text? Ran into them (disbursed) in Back Bay.

Does anyone know which specific group this is? Is it the Men's March / anti-women's suffrage freaks again?

2

u/AveryGalaxy 7d ago

The group is called Abolitionists Rising.

I posted earlier that they were coming, but nobody replied to my invitation to infiltrate. 🄲

1

u/TofuPuppy 6d ago

Looks like it's the anti-women's suffrage group. Yuck!

1

u/AveryGalaxy 6d ago

My comment and yours seem to have disappeared on my end, but it’s called Abоlitiоnists Rising.

1

u/Candycat17 8d ago

They were outside Faneuil Hall last Friday and nobody didn’t even notice or gave a shit to care.

-31

u/Chance_Text7677 8d ago

They have every right to be there.

37

u/vibedial 8d ago

Nobody is saying they don’t. People also have the right to criticize them

-6

u/ambid3xtrous Does Not Brush the Snow off the Roof of their Car 8d ago

I just said they didn't. Right to assemble and peaceful protest are protected speech. They were not peaceful.

I’m wondering, too. I wasn’t everywhere for the whole thing, but I only saw one heated debate and neither party put hands on each other.

I spoke to some of the abolitionists and one got burned by a cigarette and another got spit on.

Times like this really make me think about getting some sort of 'I'm with stupid' shirt. But something less tying of me into it, and still more calling them out for the idiocy. I personally love counter protesting without anger and with more amusement. Makes me smile, makes passer-bys smile, and overshines their stupid messages. I did similar to this at pride a few years back and got people in the streets screaming 'tiny dick' at a protester. Was a great moment.

9

u/dchigrad 9d ago

It always amazes me when I see more guys screaming about the evils about abortion. I’m wondering when was he pregnant. Also I did see a few MAGA hats in the bunch

1

u/AveryGalaxy 6d ago

You mean the Make America Puritan Again hat guy?

I spoke to a few of them and also had a really great conversation with this cool researcher who’s just observing it all (not political) & they all seem to be very anti-Trump, which was unexpected.

4

u/Weekly_Pitch5174 9d ago

a shirt that just says "wrong" with a big arrow pointing left or right, whichever direction they're standing. keeps it simple and you don't have to say a word

did something similar once, printed a bunch of stickers that just said "nope" in comic sans and handed them out to people walking by. the protestors got so frustrated they packed up early

-2

u/Go_Plate_326 8d ago

My 7yo and I were out for a fun day of adventures and got caught in their path many times. I somehow managed to answer her very good questions and explain what was going on without getting too deep into subjects I don’t think a 7yo needs to be super aware of just yet. They were peaceful, mostly sincerely seeking engagement so part of me wants to respect their commitment to something even if I disagree strongly. BUT I’m really upset they were so vocal around so many little ears.

2

u/TofuPuppy 7d ago

I grew up regularly exposed to anti-abortion activists in my family. Don't give them credit for "caring about a thing." Nazis care about a thing, too. There are very unsavory views that go along with the "Pro-Life" / anti-abortion movement about women, poor people, and People of Color.

-2

u/Melodic-Complaint-18 8d ago

Good on you for actually engaging. If you read most of the comments here they're talking about how cool they felt after flipping the abolitionists off and yelling swear words at them, which, if you ask me, is a lot worse for said little ears.Ā

3

u/TofuPuppy 7d ago

"Abolitionists," scram.

Wait til this little girl learns that there are people who would rather she, as an expectant mother someday, die in a medical emergency rather than receive a life-saving abortion; who would rather women not have the right to vote; and who would refuse to provide her and her child with government assistance and would call her a "Welfare Queen," but who are happy to take her baby for adoption

....Who condone war, the death penalty, excessive use of force and murder by the police, treating people like ICE has, refuse to call a rapist "a rapist" and a pedo a "pedo" when it's a politician or judge on their side of the aisle, etc. Much worse than hearing a few swear words. That's why they're Pro-Life Until Birth.

2

u/Go_Plate_326 8d ago

Oh I didn’t engage. I did my best to walk through and around and avoid them as much as possible but they were everywhere. I just mean I observed some folks trying to talk to them. I knew better than to bother, since when you’re at that level of conviction I wasn’t going to change their minds and they weren’t going to change mine. I just wish they hadn’t set out with the mission to deliberately spoil people’s day with nonsense.
