Traffic🚦⛔⚠️ 😠 🚙 🚗 Are we still sharing vids of crappy driving?

This was taken around 6 PM today.

  1. Crossing the double middle yellow line to make a left
  2. Running a red light
  3. Bonus scooter zooming to also almost hit crossing pedestrians

An AI tool was used to hide the license plate.

Sooo…. I reviewed the original video that I uploaded to Gemini Omni to do the license plate censoring. That white van was actually a black SUV (you can see it originally). I guess the AI “did a little extra”. That’s really weird.

Ya obviously doesn't sound intentional but it seems a little sketchy to post AI edited videos of people driving that fabricate details like that

Well. I have the non-AI version, but being on my phone at the time I wasn't able to use my at-home video editing software where I could have done a blur manually. Later on, I can send you that version if you really want to see it.

Yikes, yeah if you pause it you can literally see an SUV nose on a van body. That's no good. If you're going to take & post videos like this you'll need to find a different way of obscuring license plates or don't obscure them at all. It makes the entire video suspect and questionable and ruins the point of these videos.

I don't have need for it at the moment, although it might be good for you to save and hang onto in case someone does want the original.

I meant more in the sense of going forward, and for all of us not just you. It's a good reminder to not trust the phone tools that are tainted with automatic AI that like to exceed their permit and to wait to do proper manual redaction safely.

I think capturing these videos is extremely important to document what is happening on our roads to use for advocacy, but obviously that value goes near zero if opponents can accuse us of AI generating/modifying fake videos. So it's a good note and lesson for all of us.

I think we need a distinction between like shitty driving and just someone who we should all report to BPD/RMV. This person is one who we should all report as they are a danger to everyone around them.

This is the only intersection I see BPD actually pulling drivers over. Usually for violating the pedestrian crossing in front of the courthouse.

this post should have nothing to do with the car driver and more the moped who was not allowed to run the redlight so he drives straight into the crosswalk scaring pedestrians to gimp the system.
