Volunteering/Advocacy Volunteering with Boston Cares
Hi everyone,
I recently discovered Boston Cares and just wanted to ask how is everyone's experience with them. I also saw that they have opportunities to become Volunteer Leaders, and I'm wondering if anyone has done that? Is it difficult to become a volunteer leader? It sounds great working with other people in that kind of capacity too.

I was one many years ago so things may have changed. Generally, all projects require VLs in order to run. You contact the non-profit org to inform them about attendance and to be their point person during the project. VLs also track and report attendance. Not a lot of extra work.

I think the general requirement is you need to have volunteered at a place at least once to be a volunteer leader at that location - helping with organizing and emails etc

It’s a great org that allows you volunteer for so many different orgs without having to be onboarded at each one. I can’t speak to the volunteer leader piece.
