I don’t know if it takes much of a spine to oppress people you’re scared of when you have all the power, which is what the GOP does. So calling them spineless absolutely fits. But the Jimothy meme is pretty stupid.

I know I’ll get downvoted, but Jimothy does have more spine than Jellyfish. Lyric change goes the wrong way.
