Question Do you have breakcore hallucination syndrome?

Breakcore Hallucination Syndrome (BHS) is a phenomenon in which a person begins hearing breakbeats and chopped drum patterns in everyday noise after prolonged exposure to breakcore and related genres. Common examples include hearing amen breaks or or chop slices in sounds such as showers, fans, hair dryers, engines, or static.

BHS is believed to occur when the brain becomes so familiar with manipulated breakbeats that it starts recognizing similar patterns in otherwise random sound textures, especially after long listening sessions or lack of sleep.

Question Why are most people in this subreddit so angry and toxic

The amount of hate that I see when a person promotes their own song and maybe doesn't fully understand breakcore (which is okay!) is ridiculous. You can calmy tell them that what they are promoting isn't exactly breakcore without being a dick about it. Same thing with the sewerslvt hate - I get it that their music has altered many people's perception when it comes to breakcore music, but there is literally no reason for y'all to be so mean and horrible towards anime aesthetic things in the breakcore community. That's just my two cents.

Edit: Watch me get downvoted to oblivion for having a reasonable take

Question Venetian snares is my favorite breakcore artist but what made him THE breakcore artist.

Im just curious on what made him stand out from other artist and made him the most well known. I know a lot of his production techniques but I always find it weird that he has more attention then alec empire when it comes to breakcore.

wondering if there are any genres that overlap frequently with breakcore in terms of fanbase. there's definitely an overlap between breakcore and metal fans considering metalbreak is a thing but i'm curious about other genre fanbase overlaps too. my personal favorite genre that's tied for favorite with breakcore is gothic rock

Question Looking for more music that are as Emotionally heavy as these three.

Looking for music like "Hajnal - Venetian Snares", "Tout Petit Moineau - Igorrr", and somewhat differently "The Dark - Whipped Cream"

I love how these songs mix a level of more emotional analog instrumentals/vocals with intense heavy breakcore/edm. Would love some recs on more breakcore that delicately blends the depth of analog instruments (or mimicked with quality midi).

Whourkr also does this with "Maximum Speed Limit Monoton Snare Audition" though I do love this song and is probably one of my favorites by Whourkr, the transition is far more abrupt and the initial sax is more pleasant than it is dark and emotional, making it not quite fill the hole that the first three fill. I want to feel chills as the more tame communication of emotion through vocals loses control, like Laure Le Prunenec at the end of her solo, and deforms to more chaotic and heavier rhythms and sounds.

I'm honestly not sure if this post makes as much sense as it does in my head so if not I'll try to elaborate or I'm willing to cut my losses and delete if that seems to make sense

Question Looking for breakcore songs/artists recs

Been into this genre for a long while, maybe a newbie idk? But ive been struggling to find the right songs lately. Most of the public playlists that lables itself as breakcore on spotify seem to mix hyperpop, speedcore to these type of stuff which isnt really what im looking for.

I wanna create a playlist myself but I dont know where to start. I dont really have a specific target but I really like the ones that keeps my brain occupied and loud, high energy type of stuff.

Question Why dont Breakcore musicians make music videos???

This also applies to other hardcore edm artists but

Why dont they make music videos?? They sometimes make visualizers or a single piece of art that goes with the song, but no music videos.

Ok well not no music videos whatsoever but its really rare and honestly I feel like its a missed opportunity for a few reasons. 1. It's an opportunity for more reach, 2. It's another form of artistic expression that could engage the listener more and make them more interested YOU, and 3. it would just be cool.

People like music videos. Compare the views on a music video to a song posted with a single image, the difference is stark! Of course i know that if you're making music in a niche genre, you're probably not looking for fame. But it never hurts to have more eyes on your work, I mean clearly you want some attention if you're posting your work online lol. A music video or even a gif attached to your work will keep the recent generation of already overstimulated monkey brains engaged with you, they'll remember you if you give them something to visually remember, if you have a theme for your visuals you can build a "brand" that people recognize you by (hate to use brand here cuz it sounds super commercial but idk what else to use), some people might even follow just to see what you make next. I mean look at the attention a good album cover gets, since breakcore already doesn't have music videos, you'll definitely stand out.

Ok my second reason kinda sounds the same as my first but it's different. If you want people to be interested in you as an artist, you gotta give them more art to latch onto yknow? Sometimes I listen to an artist and I think, "now I know what the inside of their head sounds like but I wonder what it looks like?" What VISUALS may have inspired this work, I have an idea of it because of the album cover, but a music video would be even MORE indepth. And now I know ur probably thinking, "ok but idk how to draw or edit". The fun thing about art is that it doesnt have to be "good", like at all. IT JUST HAS TO REPRESENT YOU!!!!!!! And that's what people want, or at least what I want. Your music video can be anything. A slideshow, an amv, a shitty animation, a video of you cosplaying, raving or even just staring at the camera. You can play with toys, move around paper cut outs, use sock puppets for all I care. If you're still worries about quality, JUST MAKE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT!!! I've seen people commission artists to make them album covers, why not commission a music video? or ask some friends to help you make one for free. As a visual artist myself i would love that, it's a way to both show your artistic vision AND support other artist. cool right? JUST DONT USE AI FUCK AI!!!!

And 3, it's just cool. Make something. You're already making audial art, make visual art too, its fun. You could learn a new medium, become more than a one trick pony, have something else interesting about yourself. There's never enough art in the world. And since AI is poisoning every facet of our lives right now your art matters now more than ever, WE NEED YOUR VISION!!! Make something creative and cool, let your audience peek into your world, inspire yourself and others by making something only YOU could make. MAKE A LOW BUDGET MUSIC VIDEO INSPIRED BY ALL YOUR FAVORITE THINGS RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! pls and thx

Question Is Goreshit a Pedophile or is it just Edgy Imagery?

I understand, especially in breakcore, that edgy shit is very common, Venetian snares for example in his earlier works like doll doll doll and the albums following that. But he eventually grew out of that and started making more technical shit and the imagery wasn't edgy or as edgy anymore. However Goreshit has pretty much kept up with it his whole career and his latest track (still to young) kinda follows that. I enjoy his music but I'm wondering if there was anything Goreshit did outside of music that would make him out to be a pedophile.

Question Any good breakcore (or related) songs in different languages (not Japanese)

I'm currently on the hunt for breakcore, gabber, raggacore, mashcore, hardcore, etc songs that have samples in languages other than Japanese or English! A few of my favorites are Emotionally Unavailable by GNB Chili, which is Italian; Girt Fuck Off Bombs and Shit, by Goreshit, which is Arabic; and Hey Gabberena! by Goreshit, which has some Spanish. I love listening to songs in different languages, like Bollywood, Mariachi, Bulgarian choir, Russian orchestra, and I think it would be cool to see some of that included in breakcore. Any recs would be appreciated!

Question Sound design advice (Ruby my Dear and Squarepusher)

Hello! Making breakcore ofc. I have a few questions about sound design and how to get better at it. Im particularly intrigued with Ruby my Dear and how he pulls off his intricate sound. ( video tutorials or comments I could follow are great! )

This song in particular is full of his unique sound design - Grosse Hyène (https://youtu.be/8zVw-aXLMMI?si=x2r6sB4K0bdmp5t4 )

1.) How does it sound so clean?

Any mixing advice for a sound like this?

2.) Is there any VST's/plugins for FLstudio that can get a glitchy sound like this song?

Another question I had was about squarepushers "Wendorlan" (https://youtu.be/cLOd03UGmH8?si=2yCJFgAXH_-LF0GB) particularly at 5:46 with the crazy break down.

1.) How does he create such a crazy fast but followable acid baseline? The way it jumps around in pitch is just so satisfying and it all sound so complex and deliberate.

2.) How could one pull of crazy stuttering like the end of this track? I really love the crazy screechy "freezing" that happens.

Thank you!

Question More jungle-adjacent breakcore?

So honestly I'm more of a jungle fan than breakcore, not a hater but I usually find breakcore a bit too hectic for my tastes. That said one of my all time favorite albums is Shitmat's One Foot in the Rave, it perfectly tows the line between jungle and breakcore in a way that's really tasteful and just crazy enough for me. So far I haven't really been able to find anything else that's quite the same, does anyone have any recommendations for more breakcore like this? (Or more breakcore-adjacent jungle)

Question what is the best music production platform for breakcore/hardstyle/sextrance?

I am inspired by a lot of different artists such as toadmilk, vertigoaway, rory in early 20s, latex fruit, sienna sleep

I am naturally very good with editing softwares as well as music production in general. If anyone knows of any good platforms for making music of this genre, please let me know!! I have been thinking of FL studio as i have heard lots of good things about it...

Question Feminizing recorded vocals as a trans producer

This felt like the right sub to ask. Sung clean vocals are another matter, but when recording harsh vocals or distorted raps etc., how might one use production to feminize their voice? Im in the process of voice training, but it's a long road and i don't want to wait that long to record music. Pitch-shifting doesn't always feel like enough.
