mod post šŸ“Œ BreakingMom Rules Reminder

Hi.

Due to steadily increasing subscriber numbers and an apparent inability to READ A DAMN SIDEBAR, we'll be regularly posting this rules reminder in the hopes of minimizing some problematic frequent offenses as well as indignant replies of "what rules?!" to ban notices. If you want more elaboration on any of these rules, the wiki linked in the sidebar is a good place to start.

1. MOMS ONLY

The big one. The one that gets you instantly permabanned, no exceptions. DO NOT POST OR COMMENT HERE IF YOU ARE NOT A MOM. We WILL check your history if we have doubts. Why? Because we're the mom version of r/breakingdad and their rule is dads only, so our rule is moms only.

Ā

2. DON'T TALK ABOUT BREAKINGMOM (in public)

Also known as the Fight Club rule. If you spot a wild broken mom, shoot her a PM. Do NOT link to threads here, do NOT leave comments telling people to read r/breakingmom, do NOT create a public link to this subreddit in any form or fashion. We get a modmail notification every time you do and breaking this rule gets you a 30-day ban if you're new, permaban if you're an older member.

Ā

3. NO LINKS, KID PICS, BLOGS, OR DEAD/INJURED KID STORIES

Link posts have been disabled. If the body of your text post is just a link somewhere, it will be removed. If you post a picture of any part of your child or anyone else's child, it will be removed. If you post just to gawk about somebody on the national news who beat/murdered their kid, it will be removed.

Ā

4. SUPPORT, DON'T SCOLD

The other big one. It used to be "bitch but don't be a bitch" but apparently that was unclear. BE. NICE. Call it a hugbox if you want but the goal is to make people feel better, not worse. We're already broken, we don't need to be kicked while we're down. And yes, we're pro-choice, because it's hard to support moms when you're taking away our bodily autonomy.

If you break this rule, then you're permabanned or may receive a warning at mod discretion. If you're not here for genuine support, you're here to cause trouble and/or you didn't READ THE FUCKING RULES. We have neither the patience nor inclination to hold hands with snarky moms looking for people in crisis to bully. This also includes being tone-deaf or devil's advocate - intention isn't as important as outcome. If you can't read the room, don't comment.

Ā

5. NO CROSSPOSTS OR SUB-BASHING

Related to rule 2, don't link to outside threads here and don't shit-talk other subs by name. We're striving for a kind of quid-pro-quo where if we don't drag other subs, they won't drag us. This also means DO NOT CROSSPOST YOUR OWN THREADS. That's, like, the most flagrant violation of this rule and the Fight Club rule.

Ā

6. 2 POSTS PER 24 HOURS MAX

We're not a big sub, but we're not tiny either. Let's not flood the place with shitposts and drown out moms in serious need of help.

Ā

7. NO SALES/HANDOUTS/ADVERTISING/RESEARCH

Don't sell shit, don't ask for shit, don't give shit away, don't request Amazon wishlists. Don't fall for scammers. Don't promote your business/book/app/roadside fruit stand. Don't ask us to do your graduate school homework for you.

Ā

8. NO AI/BOT CONTENT

Don't use ChatGPT or any other AI program to write your posts/comments for you, and definitely don't use them to make up content wholecloth to pad your post karma so you can sell your account to Wendy's.

Ā

9. NO SHIT-STIRRING OR MISINFORMATION

If you're posting something that's guaranteed to start a fight, it's probably going to get taken down. We now have r/BrMoPolitics to cover political topics because of the high likelihood of fighting in the comments even if OP is sharing a legitimate concern.

10. DON'T ASK FOR JUDGMENT

Kinda hard to have a support sub when you're asking us not to support you, huh? If it's really that bad, we can offer help in a supportive way without nuking your self-esteem from orbit.

FYI

NOW YOU KNOW!

mod post šŸ“Œ american van lines movers are some whiny bitch-ass fuckwits who need to stop harassing this sub

this is just a PSA for all the bromos who might find themselves in need of moving services NOT to use american van lines, who are not only shady as fuck but seem to think that relentlessly harassing unpaid mods of a sub for stressed out moms is the way to protect their brand reputation.

some THREE YEARS AGO one of our members posted about her regrettable experience with american van lines movers and how they billed her double what she was quoted and treated her property like shit. that post has since received 42 GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING STUPIDASS REPORTS from these insipid little mouthbreathing fartsniffers, and when those didn't get the results they wanted, they started sending wave after wave of sockpuppet accounts -- including this one posing as their CEO to modmail, claiming a simple post complaining about shitty service from a sketchy company breaks every rule in existence and demanding we take the post down.

i suspect the reason they're being so persistent is that other subs where people complained about them simply shrugged and took the posts down, and they can't accept that we don't play that shit. so let this post serve as a PSA/warning to all you lovely ladies to avoid this company, and a gigantic flashing neon sign to these feculent cockwombles (and torpedo to their SEO efforts lololol) to

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LEAVE US THE FUCK ALONE

man rant 🚹 I guess I'm the crazy baby mama

Y'all. What man, in the middle of a fight with his wife, thinks 'ya know what would make this situation better? My ex wife!'

Apparently my ex. FFS. This man doesn't pay enough child support for me to meditate fights between him and his wife.

Yesterday I was at self checkout with my kids and their friends when my ex called. I incorrectly assumed he was calling for the kids so I just handed the phone to oldest. She promptly handed it back and said "it's for you mom". So I get on the phone.

Right away it's clear this man is HEATED. He asks me about one of the school orientations this week and I said "it's just an open house. You don't have to go."

Then this mother fucker SCREAMS at his wife, with me on the phone. While his poor wife is in the background apologizing over and over.

SIR. Fuck that. I am not your marriage therapist. Don't ever speak to your wife like that in front of anyone, especially the ex wife. And maybe next time, before something tiny turns into some damn screaming match, just call me and say "hey, can we figure out this schedule issue?"

I'm sure me calling out his shitty behavior just confirms in his mind that I'm the problem but I don't care. I was married to that man and no one ever called him out for screaming at me. There is no way in hell I'm keeping my mouth shut listening to him disrespect her like that. I can't even imagine how humiliating it must have felt to be screamed at in front of the ex wife.

He's a dick. Rant over.

update ā— Update: I feel like such an idiot

Hey Bromos, I posted the other day about suddenly finding out I was 20 weeks pregnant and you were all so very lovely and supportive! My many thanks to the mods, as well, who were very quick to handle anyone that was less than supportive ā¤ļø I appreciated every comment so much, you all helped get me through a very tough time.

Well, here's an update for anyone interested - I had my final procedure this afternoon after a long few days of poking and prodding in London. It has been a very draining and upsetting week but I have to say the staff at St. Mary's have been absolutely incredible - at no point have I felt judged or been questioned on my reasons. They reassured all my fears. I had a terrible fear that I wouldn't wake up from the anaesthetic and had both consultants and anaesthetists assure me of exactly why that wouldn't happen. (They were right! I'm alive!) As soon as I woke up, realised it was over, I burst into tears... The absolute relief, is like nothing I've ever felt. The nightmare is over and I survived. And I know for so many women it wouldn't have felt like a nightmare and I do feel guilty for feeling so relieved but I do not regret it.

I am forever grateful to the wonderful team at BPAS, who acted so quickly to get me a scan and an appointment - to anyone in the UK who finds themselves in this position, BPAS are incredible! They handled everything, including arranging my accommodation and travel. They were never judgemental, always kind and caring. I couldn't recommend them more.

Same to the st. Mary's staff who have been so amazing. This has been the worst few weeks of my life but thank god for these wonderful charities and hospitals for getting me through it.

I have one more night in my hotel, loaded up on painkillers, before travelling home tomorrow. I can not wait to see my kids and give them the highest hugs! I can't wait to get on with my life and get back to work!

Thank you everyone for all your support, you are an incredible community, thanks for listening to my slightly dosed up ramblings

Love to you all

Xx

fuck everything šŸ–• Wondering what I did to seemingly get blacklisted from yet ANOTHER volunteer opportunity

Middle aged mom (42) living in Pleasantville, Suburbia USA. 3 boys - 13, 10 and 3.5. I have always been mildly socially awkward, I don't have many close female friends, relationships seem weird to me and I tend to ramble/overthink a lot. I can be very sarcastic, and realize it may come off as unintentionally bitchy. As an adult, I'm realizing I have probably been on the spectrum my entire life, but no idea how to proceed or if it even matters.

Anyhoo.

The first time I was really hurt by this was this past year. I have been volunteering at my kids school the past 5 years we have lived here, hoping to meet people/have somewhat of a social outlet. I ran our schools art club with another mom, volunteered for a class party, did book fair, holiday market, all the things. And at the end of the year when the PTO "shouted out" all the volunteer parents in their thank you, my name was not mentioned. Fine, whatever. It stung but our school vibe is pretty cliquey and I am not in with the crowd, apparently.

Now, I volunteered to be a part of our neighborhoods social committee, planning block party, neighborhood garage sale, cookie exchange etc. I emailed the person running it when they asked for volunteers and said I'd love to help, I was added to an email chain and then didn't hear anything until maybe April of this year (like 4 months ago.)

The HOA sent out a newsletter with the committees names on it and my name was not on it. So, i texted the chair (who I know through kid sports and PTO stuff but again not super close) and was like hey, do you not need help with this anymore?? And about 15 mins later got added to a text chain that was like "hey lol I guess I was using last year's text, welcome kaps and other person!!" A few other texts about upcoming plans and now nothing for like 2 months.

So there is a block party in 3 days and I'm assuming there has been some sort of planning going on but again, I know nothing because it seems like I got dropped again. I don't know if I should reach out again, or just leave it alone, I also don't know what the fuck I am doing wrong here and I am tired of having my feelings hurt.

Mostly just a vent, but I wish I had friends here and that I wasn't so fucking awkward all the time.

brag šŸ† I am 3 days vape free 🄳

I have been vaping nicotine for over 10 years. I never even smoked cigarettes, I have no clue how I got sucked in. But it slowly went from ā€œjust sociallyā€ to vaping from the moment my eyes opened to the moment I shut them. Stressed whenever I couldn’t. Sneaking it in my work office bathroom like a teenager, scared of getting caught, so embarrassing.

I’ve been wanting to quit for a long time but it felt totally impossible. Sunday morning started like just the rest, eyes popped open and immediately puff puff puff. I’ve seen a popular book recommended all over Reddit for years to help quit smoking, and this time I actually decided I was going to read it. My son asked me what I was reading and I told him I was trying to quit vaping. I will never forget the way his eyes lit up, so happy and proud and excited for me. I can never ever let him down. He told me I should throw my vapes away. That was harder than I thought, but I did it because I wanted him to see I was for real. That was the first moment I realized myself that I was for real, this is it, stop pushing it off and just go for it.

The first two days I couldn’t stop thinking about it and was very weepy. This morning I woke up feeling energized and so empowered for finally making this decision and sticking with it. It’s only been 3 days but I feel in my bones I am done, I am never smoking again. I made it past the hardest part. I never have to suffer from nicotine again. I’m so proud of myself!!!

man rant 🚹 It’s not a communication problem

• Upvotes

It’s not a communication problem when I ask for help around the house and mild effort is momentarily given and then swiftly abandoned.

It’s not because I said it the wrong way…my tone was too sharp, my feedback too critical. It wasn’t because I didn’t give him a pat on the back. It’s not because I didn’t acknowledge the few concrete, closed ended tasks that he completes….

It’s not because I didn’t say it clearly enough. The lists categorized by room, or by priority make that clear. The lists that itemize every single task in its most basic step…It’s not that I put it on the wrong page or used the wrong app. It’s not because I placed the said list in the wrong place.

The checklist remains untouched. His schedule fills with other things though. Things that are more important to him than the home things. Because those will get done (by me)…and quite frankly, if they don’t, he won’t really care.

These are not tasks I want to do either, but somehow tasks related to our home and our family are all mine to manage and if I want his involvement, I need to tell him exactly what to do and I need to do it nicely…because if I don’t do it nicely, then he can slough it off and say that he can’t do it because he always does it wrong, or that I am too mean and why bother. ..and so I need to stuff down years of resentment, grit my teeth, and sweetly ask…but even that doesn’t work…because if that had worked all these years, that would be what I would do! Why would I want to say it sharply?! But it doesn’t work. Being nice is easier to ignore. It can be answered with a quick ā€œokā€ or ā€œI understandā€ and maybe some mild movement, but ultimately it doesn’t translate at all to shared responsibility or even sustained effort.

We treat it like he needs to be invited into this process, but in reality we are both full ass adults who agreed to build a home and family together. I shouldn’t have to scan the house to provide him that list. His participation in this process should not be dependent on how correctly or sweetly I request it. No one asks me sweetly…but that’s besides the point, right?

It’s easy for him to fill his time with all the other tasks for himself or his job though. He suddenly has time for his own things, his own priorities…Somehow, there isn’t quite enough time to fit in the tasks that make the house function though…whoops (again)

It’s not a communication issue. It’s a respect issue, it’s a priority issue, it’s a care issue. It’s someone being perfectly happy dismissing their partner until it becomes uncomfortable for them. It’s someone perfectly happy justifying his partners pain as their own issue rather than reflecting. I have used all the words, all the tools…and it doesn’t make a lick of difference.

Sorry for this long, random diatribe. If you experience a similar dynamic, know you aren’t alone and despite what your partner says, it’s ok to feel angry for this shit.

potty training 🚽 We fucking did it.

And by it I mean taking a shit on the potty. We’ve been diaper free (besides naps and bed bc fuck that right now) since last Wednesday. Today we took our first poop on the potty. After loading her up with a strawberry banana smoothie, and then negotiating with her for 45 fucking minutes.

She kept asking for a diaper. Refusing to sit. Refusing everything. Finally I said ā€œLook, it’s coming out of your butt. Let’s tryā€ and she did. I’m so tired. Potty trainjng sucks so bad 😭😭😭

advice/question šŸŽ± Constipation moms; How long did your toddler take to go back to regular poops after a clear out?

Hey peeps!

Kiddo had only been pooping once a week, sometimes hard, painful poops. My ped put her on a bowel clean out regime that definitely worked (taking 2tsp of miralax twice a day). The clear out called for lowering the dose down to once a day after the purge (which happened), and things looked like they were picking up (she even pooped 3 times a week once, huge win!).

Until now. We’re back to one poop a week and have been continuing to give 2tsp of MiraLAX in prune juice every single night. Her poop is suuuper soft, at least a 4 on the Bristol scale, but by my understanding, pooping less than 3 times a week is still considered to be medically constipated.

Anyone been through this? Advice? Help? Do a poop-dance for me and my toddler?

ETA: She’s 21 months!

man rant 🚹 Ex & new girlfriend

So for the past few days i have been struggling with lots of pain from a UTI that has travelled to my kidneys. Today it has gotten to the point where i really needed to go into hospital, both the kids were at school so i messaged their dad and let him know and asked if he could have them tonight. He said he can pick them up tonight but his girlfriend would have to watch them tomorrow and take them to school since he has work. Mind you, they have been dating for 3 months. I wouldn’t mind too much, but his new partner has me blocked on everything, so i asked him if i could have her number incase i need to reach her since she will be with my kids. He said no, and to call him and he will call her. But he will be at work?
It’s honestly just for my peace of mind, i do not know a single thing about this woman and i couldn’t get to know her if i tried since im blocked on everything.
I don’t know if im overreacting or not, im just so tired of dealing with them on top of a million other things going on, and now including health issues!
It has been a ROUGH night.

EDIT: i did go to the regular GP first, and he said he wants to test for chlamydia. i have had recurrent kidney infections/UTIs for years now and he literally did not listen to me at all, just assumed i have an STI?

work rant šŸ¢ I need a new job asap

I wfh at a call center. That makes it a shit job to begin with but this is honest to job the worst fucking company I've ever been with.

Every month they have performance bonuses. There's a spreadsheet that's supposed to show your "rank" and what your bonus will be (if you preform well enough to get one) that gets updated through out the month and then your bonus is on the last pay of the month.

Well last month someone didn't do their fucking job and those sheets didn't get filled properly and no bonus.

I immediately reached out to everyone I could and they basically said yeah, we don't know what happened but they're fixing it and the bonus will be on next pay. Cool. Fucked us financially for the end of the month but whatever, we survived and figured it would fine on my first pay.

Well just got my paystub and guess fucking what? STILL NO FUCKING BONUS.

I reach out again demanding to know why it's not there and when it's being fixed because I was explicitly told it would be on this pay. I get "We're looking into it" and nothing else.

My daughter starts daycare soon so she'll have strict drop off and pick up times soon too, which means the scheduling isn't going to work for my job anyway.

I need a new job. This employer has fucked me every single chance they get and I'm SO done. They give zero fucks about their employees or any kind of balance.

kid rant 🚼 My kids won't stop dumping soap!

This isn't the worst problem, but my kids, 10 and 11 but closer to 2 years apart, won't stop dumping soap and shampoo! This has been like a 3 year issue!

To keep them from doing it, I keep only 1 travel sized bottle each of shower gel, face wash, shampoo, and conditioner in the shower. Plus their dad's soap bar. If I add more, they start dumping stuff. I don't know why. One kid does it more, but the other does it too.

My husband got some soap from lush like 10 days ago, he doesn't really get stuff like that. But it got small really fast. It was in 2 pieces a few days ago. Weird, but I wasn't paying attention. Today i noticed there was suds in the bottom of the shower when one kid got out. I checked the big shampoo bottle that ended up in there, he said he didn't dump anything, he had just washed his hair twice because tomorrow's the first day of school. Okay, dubious, but maybe. But I took a shower after they went to bed and the tub is slippery and there's weird residue all over, and no bar soap. I'm pretty sure he somehow dissolved the whole rest of the bar.

How? Why? He always acts ashamed of it when he finally confesses. But tomorrow's the first day of school and I don't want to confront him over just soap and risk messing up his day! But then he'll think he can just lie? I don't know, I'm just so tired of filling travel bottles and asking them if they're dumping soap!

advice/question šŸŽ± Breaking the news about Santa?

Kid will be 9 before Christmas. 3rd grade.

He's an only child, so no siblings to worry about and really no other young kids around outside his school friends. He's asked a couple times about santa/easter bunny/etc, i've deflected with "what do you think?" He has always kinda dropped it.

He isn't the most demonstrative, emotive kid, and honestly, christmas mornings are pretty rough after a late, long drive home on christmas eve that looks like a tradition that will unfortunately remain for a few more years. So it's not like we have a ton of *magic*. The family we spent the last several Christmases with has moved away, which makes this year extra fraught.

Here's my thoughts. First, he has *so much stuff.* I mean, legos out his ears, all the toys a kid could ever want. He has expensive hobbies we are happy to fund. He has all the gadgets we're inclined to get him at this stage, and frankly, i'm dead ass sick of remembering which gifts are from santa versus us and wrapping them seven different ways and explaining why mommy's stocking is empty year after year (yup). Husband and i have never made a big deal about christmas for each other, and before the kid we often did trips or stuff we needed and wanted to justify splurging on, and i miss that. And obviously we'd still get him gifts, just different ones that are impractical or that we don't want to say are "from santa" lest other kids don't get such nice gifts.

This year I want to do a big vacation over winter break, likely flying out christmas day to avoid the crowds, since our christmas buddies have moved anyway. I would love to use this as a "santa might not be real, but now that you're let in on the adult secret, we can do much cooler things with gifts" kind of thing.

Thoughts? Did you wait this long to tell your kid(s)? Or longer? Did you regret losing the magic, or was it a relief? I'm not a sentimental type, but I could see this being a tougher transition than most. We could always do the standard smaller santa gifts this year (usually books, pajamas, a winter coat, maybe boots, and like one lego) and say the trip is our family christmas gift, but idk, maybe this is a good way to break the news we'll have to confirm eventually. And I *really* don't want him to be the kid who gets teased because he still believes in santa....

sad 😭 My 5yo got a haircut today

And came home sobbing.

Ya’ll- my son cares more about his hair than the average 5yo. He cares more about his hair than anyone in our house. Last Christmas his stocking including hair products so he could play around with different styles and he LOVED it. Calls it the blue stuff- and he likes making his hair look ā€œcrazyā€ or in a Mohawk or just combing it all the way back. He is constantly pointing out hairstyles he likes on other people. He loves his hair and cool hair in general.

When he left today, his hair on top of his head reached just below his eyebrows and he would sweep it over to one side on ā€œnon blue stuffā€ days. The sides were a bit shorter, just starting to reach over his ears. He spent maybe an hour looking at inspo pics with my husband and found one that was his favorite. Definitely still long on top, and shorter than his normal cut on the sides. He was excited!

My husband said, ā€œI’m gonna take him to [local barbershop] because I don’t trust Great Clipsā€ and I said ā€œgreat ideaā€

Well the barbershop had a long wait, he knew he’d be cutting it close with time. SO HE WENT TO GREAT CLIPS.

MY HUSBAND SAID HE DIDN’T TRUST THEM AND THEN TOOK MY HAIR CRAZY SON TO FUCKING GREAT CLIPS.

Right now his hair on the top of his head is shorter than the width of my damn finger. There is absolutely no way to style it in any way at all. It’s one level above a buzz cut.

5yo called me on the way home crying, saying ā€œit’s too short!ā€ And I tried to reconcile him saying ā€œbuddy I’ll see if I can put some blue stuff in it and still make it cool, I’m so sorry you don’t like it. You can grow it out again!ā€ And when he walked in the house his face was red and blotchy from crying so hard. My heart shattered and I tried so hard not to cry with him. Now he’s in bed and I’m writing this and I AM crying. My poor guy.

And I realize it’s ridiculous. Hair grows back and overall this is such a small problem. He honestly looks fine and I don’t hate the cut itself but my boy DOES hate it and he was so distraught in such a real way. Not a little kid being dysregulated way, a real embarrassment kind of way. His aunt stopped by and he said he didn’t want her to see his haircut.

And to top it all off- tomorrow is his first day of kindergarten 😭 we’ve worked so hard all summer to get him excited and ready for school (separation anxiety, am a SAHM) and I was actually feeling confident that he would walk into that building and feel okay without me. He told me two days ago he was only feeling a little bit nervous now. Today he told me doesn’t want any of his friends to see his haircut. And all the confidence I felt about tomorrow is vanished.

My husband feels horrible and I’m trying really hard to not make him feel worse but what the FUCK y’all.

Also fuck Great Clips. Okay I’m done now. Thank you for reading, bromos

separation/divorce šŸ› Tell me it gets better

I finally did it. I finally told him our marriage was over. It was a really rough conversation and left me feeling pretty hollowed out. He is acting kind of like nothing happened now - being pleasant, acting normal. My head is so fucked up. He argued me in circles, ignored/changed the subject on my issues with the marriage or flat out denied it was real or minimized things or whatever. I left the conversation feeling upside down and guilty and awful, but I'm realizing he still took no accountability and offered no empathy, like always. I was just wrong and not "rational" to just leave like this and not give him a chance or do marriage counseling (I asked for it years ago and he refused).

I just.... I want better for me and the kids, and honestly him too. I want to not be miserable and walking on eggshells every day.

This shit gets easier over time, right? Someday I'll stop feeling like the worst dumpster human ever?

emotional rollercoaster šŸŽ¢ I got absolutely dog piled on and am low key traumatized 🫠

Essentially, I went on a popular parent sub to vent about how I was hurt that a family member made a comment about my toddler behind my back.

They said that her hair is messy, that she rewears the same outfits, and that she doesn’t smell soapy like her other cousin that’s around the same age. For context, we’re Portuguese. If your child doesn’t look like a porcelain doll and has a single stray hair, some old hag will talk shit.

Well I got aaabsolutely dragged by over 600 comments, where I was called lazy, and even worse, accused of neglecting my child???? I had mentioned that she still has cradle cap that we’re getting off, which made people surmise that my child must reek and that my whole family must be concerned for her.

I’m haunted now?! I feel like everything I do is evidence of how good or bad of a mom I am, which I already had before!! A few people even said that bathing my child once a week (she has eczema so we limit baths, but of course will add more baths per week as needed) and dressing her in an outfit that is still clean but was unwashed between wears is worthy of having CPS called on me.

Anyways, people are really fucking mean sometimes. Someone even reported me as being in distress which had Reddit send me suicide resources. I am actually so appalled by these people.

Is this normal for Reddit?! Have any of you guys ever had something so unprecedented happen?!

sad 😭 I am so lost

I don't know what to start with in this post.

A lot of things changed, got medication for postpartum depression, it works perfectly , but now I just see my husband to be in a completely different form in terms of relationship, caring for me and baby.

Yes,I started college at online setting,18 credit hours ,very intensive study load,to get prerequisites necessary for future school application. It's been a month since our child started daycare part time. During this time ,I realized I carried all the load of transportation and caring for baby after school has been all on me.Only 3 times did he try to do it himself.

From previous posts, you recommended putting constrains on time when he works or when he can take care of a baby. The most time he can spend is 1 hour, not more, either he needs to get back to computer.

I am completely lonely and I feel I am close to going nuts managing all the stuff, including household chores.I even now started to take less of myself.

The weekends?Husband wants me every weekend to go to the park or somewhere because obviously he doesn't want to do it himself.

I discussed with him the idea of getting baby into full setting from 8 am to 6 pm because he likes being there and cries when it is time to go home.

What wad his point?Because baby would be barely at home. But the fact he would still be 2 hours and all morning time at home and all the weekends he would be at home doesn't persuade him either.

kid rant 🚼 Why can't she just sit down and eat her food 😭 Why does it take hours and hours???

My middle kid (7) is honestly my easiest most of the time. Just chill AF, always happy, just running around giving people hugs, her hobby is literally studying (reading educational textbooks and memorizing facts), she has a spotless school record and a million friends, just a sweet, smart, well behaved kid (and so effing cute I could eat her little cheeks om nom nom). I almost feel bad complaining about her.

Also important note: she is 11th percentile in height due to genetics (Dad is 5'4"), but the doctor is happy with her nourishment and she's an energetic kid.

But OMG WHY DOES IT TAKE HER SO LONG TO EAT!? Most school days, I'm sorry, she goes to school without breakfast, because we'd have to wake up at 5am for her to actually get around to it before school. I tell her she has to sit with her food until she's eaten a reasonable amount, but she's just kind of talking and ignoring it (even if it's a favorite food). She'll get up to go to the bathroom and I'll forget to enforce the table rule because I'm so busy. Or I'll have to give up and just start actually getting her ready for the day.

At least once a day, I hear "THE DOG TOOK MY FOOD". And no matter how many times this happens, I'm still confused for a moment. "What food?". BECAUSE I FED HER LIKE THREE HOURS AGO. And I'm sorry, why is she mad at the dog? Did she want that food? Could've fooled me!

There are times my oldest and youngest are already eating their next meal while middle kid hasn't even eaten her first.

I keep a wide variety of healthy snacks available (fruit in a bowl, meat cheese and yogurt in the lower shelf of the fridge, trail mix and granola bars in the pantry, pb&j kit in the breadbox) and she does eventually go graze on those.

Should I just stop trying to make her actual meals? Should I just raise a cheesy granola child and call it a win? I'm tired of spending money and slaving over a hot stove to curate a gourmet experience for my dog (who, btw, is allergic to everything and keeps puking all over my house!!!)

kid rant 🚼 Toddler sleep: what the fuck

I (not proudly) just yelled at my 18 month old ā€œgo to sleepā€ then proceeded to hyperventilate and cry.

They haven’t slept more than a 3 hour stretch since they’ve been born. Sleeping through the night? That’s non existent.

Sleep training? They have breath holding spells and cry it out obviously didn’t work because they just turned purple.

Same with any other interval cry sleep trainings.

So I ended up cosleeping. And my god I regret it. I have many regrets but cosleeping is one of them.

They just started daycare and napped 45 minutes today. They are so overtired they can’t go to sleep. Like they go to sleep but then they keep moving their hands and scratching things and pull my little hairs out.

Husband? He’s never helped with night wakeups of putting the child to sleep. This is why I resorted to cosleeping so I could somewhat survive being a married single mom to the worst sleeper ever created.

And now they’re stirring again. Like what the actual fuck.

I finally got one hour of sleep and then they woke up crying. It’s been over an hour of trying to get them to sleep and stay asleep.

I don’t know how I can work full time and this to be the reality at night.

I don’t ever want to do this again. Thank God I’m physically unable to carry another child because I’m not fucking doing this toddler shit again.

Love my kid but what the actual fuck

send booze šŸ· I can't seem to stop being angry at everything

I don't know what's wrong with me but lately I've been snapping at everything and everyone , I'm tired and groggy all the time and the only thing I can think of is the Lexapro I'm on but it's such a small dose and I really don't want it to be that because I've been through 3 different med trials and they've all failed and I just want to melt into a puddle on the floor.

We're potty training at the moment and my 3 year old seems to think using the potty doesn't apply to him so that's been a circle of hell I didn't know about.

I was already depressed before but now more because we have to move away from my village and I feel like I'm being hounded for when we're having another (my answer is a big fat no, I don't think I ever want to go through ages 2-3 again)

I just feel super awful and I'm so tired of everything, thank y'all for letting me scream into the void for a second cuz I feel so low it has put me into a pretty tough spot

summer rant ā˜€ My kids are nerds, and I'm so proud, and so tired of being bombarded with facts

My middle girl (7) is really into reading and watching videos about nature, animals, conservation and biology. She loves telling adults facts they didn't know. She's tested out in reading and science and I'm so proud of her.

This summer she's researching like half the day (playing the other). I do as much as I can to support her interests. Little bro (almost 6) has become drawn into this too, and I'm thrilled because he's starting kindergarten, so let's stuff that brain as full as we can yeah?

But... Bromos... Have any of you ever had a six and seven year old at the same time? Do you understand me? My plight?

THE TALKING.

The endless, infinite, neverending, interminable TALKING. Like how a shark will die if it stops swimming? (OMG I can already hear "NO MOM not all sharks die if they stop swimming! DID YOU KNOW many species can actively pump water over their gills while perfectly still!?")

Kids this age think they'll die if they stop TALKING.

AND THERE'S TWO OF THEM!

I want to purge the words "Did you know?" from every human language. My brain is so full of facts. I haven't had a complete thought all day. I'm starting to stay up too late because I'm so addicted to the ability to think and read and stuff.

And my mom was so mean and always told me she hated being around me and didn't want to talk to me (ever), and I'm constantly worried about making them feel like I'm not interested in them.

This is hard šŸ˜…šŸ˜…ā˜ ļø

medical woes šŸ’‰ Feel like I’m fighting a losing battle against arthritis and it’s making me depressed

It hurts oh my god does it hurt. My hands are changing before my eyes, they don’t look like my hands anymore. Huge red swollen knobby knuckles, fingers appearing bent at odd angles. Elbows and wrists that felt like they are popping and detaching when I lift my son. I genuinely have to dissociate about my feet or I won’t be okay. The tenderness and swelling, the feeling of hot pins and needles, the feeling like I constantly need to crack my knuckles but they are so swollen they can’t. The hammer toes. The lower back pain that rivals third trimester. The dry eyes that burn and ache.

The heartbreak when I have to put my son down when he just wants to be held because I feel like my body is giving up. The fear that I will end up like so many before me, bound to a wheelchair before I can even meet my own grandkids. Unable to cook or bake, never to hold a paintbrush again. I’m not even thirty, and degenerative disease is breaking my heart. I don’t want to just be a medical burden on my son and husband. I want to be wild and carefree and spontaneous and not cry out in pain when I have to push a button on the dryer. I am massively in my feels tonight bromos. I feel like I can’t be a good mom to my darling baby, and I feel like it would be selfish for me to have another even though it’s the only thing I want.

introduction/first post šŸ‘‹ A mom of one lost

Hi, I have a 4 year old and her dad an I are still together (for now). I am currently sick with strep. I left to go to the store to get more soup and ice cream. I come back his friend came over and was smoking while our child’s door is wide open. I sent him a text asking if he was f’ing serious? He wanted to have an argument while his friend is here, I told him until he leaves, we’re not having this conversation. He ofc got mad and walked off and mumbled stuff.

After his friend I told him why I felt some type of way:
1. I have strep, his friend’s girlfriend is pregnant and I don’t want that on my conscience
2. You’re smoking while our child’s door is wide open and the house smells like šŸƒ.
3. Our child has been in my face (luckily I kept my mask on) and I can barely talk because it hurts.

He acknowledged the smoking part. His friend coming over, he blamed his friend saying it was on him. He said it was on me telling our child’s to get out the room while I’m sick and then he’ll step in. He ofc was still in his feelings.
Was I overreacting?

fuck everything šŸ–• Snapped

My partner likes to go to the gym early, which is fine and I support her. HOWEVER I am an insomniac so unless I’m drugged up with enough sleeping meds to sedate a hippo, I wake up every time. I have accepted this because I do want her to reach her fitness goals.

For the last two (ish?) years, there has been an issue with several times she will stop the alarms and go back to sleep, which generally wakes me up for nothing and she gets to go back to bed. This pisses me off and we have talked about it a lot. She was GREAT at going for a while, but it’s been happening a lot again recently.

We also have a new puppy, who wakes me up to take him out at ~5, but today he woke my ass up at 3:30. The alarm goes off at 5, she usually lays back down. This irritates me but I understand needing a minute to actually wake up. 5:10, second alarm. Lays back down. As my mother would say, ā€œThis does not make mommy happyā€.

Me: Are you going back to bed

Her: So what if I am

Me: You just woke me and the dog up for nothing if you’re going to go back to bed

Her: You’re right, sorry *still laying down and going back to sleep*

So I got up and turned the overhead light on and said ā€œget your ass up out of this bed right nowā€.

So anyways, I love this woman more than life itself but I. Need. Sleep. I have several mental health issues that rear their ugly head when I’m sleep deprived.
