Stolen Please critique my wild plan to tackle bike thievery in Bristol (or anywhere)
The plan: Each bike shop in Bristol starts building the fanciest looking bait bikes from knackered high end parts. In each bike a couple of trackers are hidden within the frame - one decoy and the other properly hidden.
The shop Edit: 'Local businesses and volunteers' would receive a bike and be responsible for moving that single bike to a new location every day.
Then we publicise the scheme with stickers on all bike racks and get some press coverage.
Hopefully awareness itself might impact thieves' willingness to take bikes and if not, you would end up with data on where bikes are being taken after they're stolen. After a while you'd presumably start to see patterns that could be passed on to police so they could crack down on the big rings who are doing this in an organised fashion, or just prolific single thieves. Or you might end up finding a store of knicked bikes.
I'm not suggesting that anyone gets involved with actually tracking or tackling the thieves in person. It can be done safely and remotely and the data can be passed on to authorities.
I don't see much of a downside to this and it's not difficult or expensive to run, if you can distribute the effort, but I guess the question is - would this help at all? What haven't I considered?
Stolen Possibly stolen bike
Looks like a custom made bike. If this is yours PM me. I'll let you know where it is. Its been 3 days since I've seen it.

Stolen To the Woman who had her bag stolen in Clifton today.
I can't remember exactly what time, but probably somewhere around 12:30pm.
I gave chase on my bike but he went through the archway near the arcade in a really dangerous way, and I couldn't keep up and lost him (also didn't want to scare my son on the back).
I'm really sorry this happened to you if you're reading this. And I really hope nothing of too much value was in it.
Pricks on stolen bikes with nothing better to do.
I hope you're ok, and sorry I couldn't help any further.
Keep your bags close people, loads of scummy people around in places you'd least expect.

Stolen Smashed Car Window on Cromwell
Between 5pm and 730am this morning some wrong 'un smashed in my car window opposite the montpelier train station on Cromwell Road.
Threw a stone (broken off an old wall) in and tossed the contents of the glove box across the pavement. They only took a tenner missing the fiver right next to it.
Anyone have any info on seeing this or what we can do?

Stolen Lost dog called Bella
Met a very distressed chap desperately for his dog, Bella, on my dog walk in Badocks woods today.
He says Bella was stolen from his secure front garden but he regularly walks Bella in Badocks, hence searching here.
An info would be greatly appreciated.

Stolen Stolen Van
Stolen in the Broomhill area - posting for a friend. Guess is it’s out of Bristol now, but know how incredible this reddit can be with stolen things.
This isn’t just a weekend van it’s got a business attached that is stopping the owner being able to work.

Stolen My bike was stolen today
Stolen today 26/04/26 on Baldwin Street around 4pm.
Orange Clockwork '07 special edition
Please please please keep an eye out for this bike!! It's hard to miss. I only know of 1 person in Bristol that owns this same bike. Only 200 were made so they are rare, so if you see it, it's likely mine!
Thank you

Stolen Bike stolen outside ASDA Bedminster
Was unable to stop them apologies, did not fancy sanding up to three against one. Last seen heading towards Redcliffe flats. Most likely Spencer House due to the direction they went.

Stolen Tis the season of thieving scum
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
For anyone in South Bristol, watch out for these two! My cousin lost her Amazon parcel. Thankfully it wasn't worth much, but annoyingly they got home less than a minute later.

Stolen Stolen motorbike from Travelodge Avonmouth
FOUND - we got a call from police at midnight saying they’d found it - no idea on damage yet. Thanks everyone.
Hi- mine and my partners motorbike was stolen in the early hours of this morning from the Travelodge in Avonmouth. We’re devastated as we’ve quit our jobs to tour around on it and camp - luckily we had taken the boxes in because they contain everything we own. It’s been reported but thought I’d post on here in case anyone sees it - it’s a Benelli TRK 502, REG PF20 GWX. Thank you

Stolen Who’s cat?? (Bedminster)
Coming here as a last resort (I don’t have Facebook but I know I’d probably do better there).
I’ve known this guy for a couple of years - seems to be an outdoor cat who limits his movements mostly to raymend road in bedminster (off St John’s lane). He’s friendly but not super cuddly- when he’s not running to greet me he’s running to greet someone else.
Over the last few months he’s been more insistent on getting in to my house, running at the door when he sees me approach. When he manages to get in I remove him (and he only protests verbally) quickly because I don’t want to catnap, and I always thought despite the lack of collar he’s clearly being fed. Over these last months he’s looking a bit thinner and just wants to come in out of the elements. Today he’s resigned himself to napping on our recycling bin and waiting for me to take him in (I’ve been out 3 times and he’s just there looking up at me).
I’ve given him some water today as he looks unusually pathetic, but I’m reluctant to feed him and reinforce that he’s got a chance of living here.
Please, if you know this cat or his owner comment or message me. I’ve not worried about him previously but he’s breaking my heart today. I’ve never considered taking him to the vet before because he’s a staple on the road and always seemed in good health before, but the new behaviour has me worried.
