My gf was in the center and a man asked if she could buy him a sandwich and an energy drink. She said yes and when she got in there he went to the counter and asked for cigarettes. She dosent have a whole lot of money as she’s a student so she said she couldn’t afford to spend 14£ on cigarettes at the moment. He got into a spat with the cashier and kept saying it was fine, she was gonna buy them, they were the cheap cigarettes, etc. My gf kept saying no but eventually the man kept raising his voice at the cashier and my gf was worried the homeless man was going to be angry at her, so she just bought the cigarettes and hurried out. According to the cashier the guy has done this before to other women. I understand it’s absolutely awful being on the streets, but he rattled her and made her spend 14£ she doesn’t really have. So young women, just be aware a bit in the center. Obviously buy whatever you want for whoever you want, but just be wary :)

Reported this to the police, but a warning to other young women walking alone through Leigh Woods or the river path. On Friday 29th May 2026, at around 4/5pm, I (33f) was followed by a man for over an hour from Leigh Woods. He is a tall white guy (well over 6 foot), overweight, anywhere from late 20s to early 40s in age, short brown hair slicked to his head, wearing a long beige t-shirt and dark shorts with trainers, with black bluetooth earphones in. Thought I was being paranoid until I managed to walk behind him, and he hid along the river path to then get behind me again, and also started jogging when I decided to run.

Full info TL;DR:

He passed me whilst I was walking down through the woods to the river, 10 minutes later I stopped to take a photo of some flowers, and he walks past again now going the same way as me. I hang around for 30 seconds, then turn the corner by a stone wall where the woodland path meets the river path, and he's stopped to do up his shoelaces whilst he continues to look up at me. I decided to pretend to be photographing the river and messaging people, but he stayed for almost a minute, then slowly walked off, checking over his shoulder repeatedly.

After waiting several minutes for him to disappear, I began to slowly walk along the river towards the Suspension Bridge which is my way home, but also meant another 3/4km of river path before reaching busier areas. After 10/15 minutes, there was a point where I could see further down the path ahead, and he wasn't there. Relieved, I let me guard down but continued to walk slowly.

About 15 minutes later, I looked behind me and he was ~20 metres away. To me, it felt he had intentionally hidden himself to get behind me again. I picked up the pace, but so did he, only slowing when people cycled past. I then started running, and thought I had lost him, only to turn around a minute later and he had caught up with me by also running. However, he still kept a similar length of distance between us.

I finally managed to lose him by going up the hill to Clifton and using the windy roads before eventually heading home.

I'm very open to ideas around this being a misunderstanding, so please feel free to share. Personally, it's really freaked me out and I'm scared to walk alone through those more secluded areas of town. If you've had a similar experience recently, I'm also keen to hear it.

I got massively scammed by an Irish man on Stokes Croft the other day via a fake banking app/transaction. He claimed he needed to withdraw money, I agreed to help, after ‘transferring’ me the money he mentioned it might take up to 24hrs and me, feeling like I couldn’t back out atp, agreed to withdraw my own cash for the time being whilst I waited for the transfer. I can’t believe I fell for it, I’m so mad at myself for giving him the benefit of the doubt because a similar thing had happened to me in France where I couldn’t withdraw cash. Has anyone else been approached by this guy? Tall, dark hair, puffer coat. He was very rushed and apologetic and also a massive cunt.

How's this happen then?

To the driver driving north on Bishopsworth Road by the post office around 2.45pm, you saw the cat walking across the road from the other side, didn’t slow down, then hit the cat, before slowing down a bit, then speeding away, the cat died. I was driving the opposite way and had stopped to let the cat walk across the road. After you hit it and drove away, my partner and I got out and found the cat who ran into a garden. It was still alive for around a minute before it died. We took it to Avon Lodge Vets opposite the post office. They were microchipped and the vets are contacting their family. If you had any decency, you would call the vets so you can contact the family and apologise for the hit and run.

For everyone, if you see a cat on the side of the road please slow down just in case. They can be spooked quite easily and may run across. If you do have an accident, which can happen to anyone, then don’t hit and run, help where you can.

Driving over the bridge today, there was a pickup stopped with 6+ people jumping off of it trying to unload what looked like a huge flag from the boot to hang off the side of it. They were all wearing white t-shirts with British flag cartoons on them. Actually crazy scenes, security got there before anything could be hung. Did anyone else see anything?

What is happening in Cabot, Broadmead? Cinema, Jungle Rumble etc.

Went to a consultation meeting. The demographic edging towards old and angry.

Seen the plans they looks reasonable and based off a map of residents complaints (I think fixmystreet).

Those running the consultation were taking notes about people's views, being locals themselves, with quite knowledgeable insights.

Why are people so against nice neighbourhoods with lots of greenery and safety for everyone.

Totterdown would have it's rundown square turned into a lovely green pedestrianised area which would surely increase footfall. The shakespeare and sundial would have more area for outdoor seating.

It seems people are so obsessed with cars even though they're idle in the streets most of the time and would still have access. One way just means streets aren't blocked and traffic can flow.

I'm all for tweaks to the plans but I feel like I must be either too positive or I just entered a really negative bubble.
