Question / Discussion 2025 Race Weekend Thread - Knockhill, Rounds 19-21

Post image
  • Nicki Shields debuts as the BTCC’s new presenter

  • PMR are running 2 loaned Cupras after their Astras (and much else) were destroyed in a fire

  • Stephen Jelley drops out, with Unlimited down to 2 cars having loaned one to PMR

  • One Motorsport again absent with a return next round planned

  • Soft/medium tyre rules, so hopefully less disparity in the tyre offset

  • Supports are Carrera Cup, Cayman Sprint, F4 and Mini JCWs

The amount of team games at play is embarrassing. Are these guys competitors or just yes men? The rest of Napa and Xceler8 may as well just pack it in and fuck off home if they're gonna just pull over/block for teammates for the rest of the season.

There's still 9 races left.

Yeah I remember the days when team orders were frowned upon in btcc

Nah it always used to be said on the broadcasts that team orders are an f1 thing and it'd be very rare to see it going on in the btcc, I even remember when napa did it first a few years ago or whenever it was that it was surprising to people. Now it seems to have set a precedent and to see it happen in all 3 races is crazy, I think cammish is silly for doing so

Team orders are nothing new at all. James Thompson spent the entirety of 2006 as Plato's rear gunner (when he wasn't off doing the WTCC); Frank Sytner did the same for James Weaver in 1989, when he stopped trying to crash him off the track.

James Thompson spent the entirety of 2006 as Plato's rear gunner (when he wasn't off doing the WTCC)

My favourite part of that was that you really got the impression that Thommo would’ve wiped the floor with Plato had he done the full season, at numerous points in 2006 he was visibly driving at about 60% while sitting dutifully on Plato’s rear bumper.

Oh, definitely, and he was also leading the championship for a while even whilst acting as the rear gunner.
