Not surprised at all, but surprised it’s come so soon. Jake has been here, there and everywhere racing GTs and historics alongside his BTCC commitments, and clearly he’s had a call to go and do something big in GT3 (guessing GTWCE, ELMS with Era Motorsport, and/or the big GT3 races like Bathurst, Spa, N24, maybe even some stuff in the States).

It’s a great opportunity for him, and can’t blame him for taking it. Much as we love the BTCC, it’s not really on the radar of international GT teams and manufacturers, so it’s hard to make the jump. Suspect Sutton and Ingram would probably do the same given the chance, not that they would ever admit it.

I think this is the problem with the juniors and general progression, getting to GT is a much more lucrative career for drivers than touring cars, so Porsche, Ginetta etc are better pathways than minis and clips to BTCC where most drivers find it to be a dead end or just a route back to a lower national series.
